For reasons that won't be explained at the moment, humanity was on it's last legs. Luckily technology was so advanced at that point that space travel to distant planets was actually easy. The only real gripes people had with moving mankind from one planet to another were that space travel took a long time and was excruciatingly boring... thus, Unreality was created a few years before the shuttle's launched.
Unreality is, as it's title implies, an unreal reality. In the year 3033 all gaming was virtual, and many were seen as a source of escapism- a way to escape the frustrations of real life. This was not the case with Unreality. Entire governments were created within months of it's release. At this point all money on Earth was in the form of bit-coins, abbreviated to coins by hipsters. All classes, character attributes, and spawn positions, are determined by brain scans, but other than that everything is pretty much choice... with one small problem. All things that happen to you in game, happen to you yourself in the real world. In other words, if your arm is cut off, you'll most likely lose feeling in it in the real world. If you die in the game, you'll die in real life. With this information the story can begin, but I'll offer one last hint to avoid forceful story exposition:

The NPC's have a level of AI so advanced that they are considered to be sentient beings, therefore it's illegal to kill them in most places too. Soo with that said, let's check on the protagonists.

Unreality: The Game of Life

The sound of rioting be heard outside of the UUS high-security prison, as violent protesters of all races and classes voiced their adamant opposition to killing the 3 players now known as the "False Gods". Spade was the type of person who would be right there with them, had he not been of of the False Gods. Instead of waving pickets and throwing rocks at UUS (Unreal United States) officers, he was eating his last meal- one which he purposely made consist of tough to find materials just to troll the people tasked with finding them. To his surprise they found them in a day, and before him was a large platter of poached wyvern eggs, baby Krakken calamari, and a Deku Nut, which he was genuinely surprised to see in this game.
"Huh, you guys sure do know how to spoil a guy, right?" He said nervously.
"Ya know kid, if ya just eat the food it'll make things easier on us." He heard a guard wearing a large helmet say in a stark tone.
"It's not like I actually did anything!" Spade shouted, standing up and flipping the table, wasting what he noted to be the most expensive meal he'd ever seen.
Two guards rushed at him from both sides, grabbing his arms, while a third reapplied a restraining device to his neck, which seemed to instantly stop his movement. Another guard entered the room and gave a swift hand gesture signifying that it was time.

They placed Aaron on a flat, paper thin platform, and it floated inches off of the ground. His arms were placed into handcuffs just as the restraining device seemed to malfunction and fizzled up before falling off of Spade's neck and fading away.

"Ha, that one lasted even less time than the first!" A guard laughed, patting Spade in the back, "That was my strongest one too! Impressive!"

"No, it wasn't." Spade said coldly, not even staring him in the eye.

As the guards walked, the platform followed them automatically. He was led down several hallways with concrete flooring and metallic walls. Occasionally he'd pass a cell block where prisoners would shout insults at the guards or even attempt to attack, but as the cells had special forcefields rather than bars, each attack was reflected. It seemed like it would never end, and Spade's legs began to get tired so he sat cross legged on the platform, and before long they reached a final completely metal door with a sign labeling it "Deaths Stare".

"That's just for dramatic purposes." A guard attempted to reassure him, to which he sarcastically replied with "Oh really?"

The door led to a large courtyard with 8 large pedestals reaching about 5 feet off of the ground. 2 of them were already occupied by an old man and a young girl. The pedestal between them was empty, and that was the one Spade's platform floated up to. On the way there, Spade heard a rather awkward conversation about how the old man forgot to bring her candy.

"Ahh, and you look rather young!" The old man said to Spade, with a creepy smile, "I'm Alan, what's your name!"

"Mike Hawk." Spade chuckled, along with the old man who looked towards the young girl and shouted
"See, this guy gets i-" he was cut off by his dentures falling out of his mouth.

A loud siren caught everyone's attention and a single woman entered the room. She gazed at all of them, blushing as she passed Alan who had lost his pants somehow.

Her look immediately grew dense as she got a message over an intercom to begin the procedure.

"Alan- age "69, heheheh"... whatever that means." She began, "Spade age 17 , and Kira age 9. Is this correct?"
There was no reply.
"Fine then. I'll be brief. Unless one of you can prove you are a God class player, you are to be executed under the law or sentenced to life in jail on a prison continent."
At this point the young girl spoke.
"I don't even know what a God class player is! Why are you doing this!?!?" She shouted, tears streaming from her face as she paused to give cutesy puppy-dog eyes at the woman. Unfortunately, it didn't work, and the woman moved on.

"So. Who's up first?"

They all gave each other looks that indicated none of them were going to speak at all, and so the woman gave a stern look towards the trio.
"If you don't choose now, I'll choose for you. I'm not against killing minors or the elderly." she said, staring directly at Spade who at this point knew he was probably going to be first.

"Why are we even here? I never said I was a God!" Kira shouted once more, "I don't even know what that means!"

At this point, the woman was ready to crack and leave, but Alan spoke seriously for the first time, and had found his pants but now had a face with wrinkles and a long white beard.
"A long time ago... God class players spawned for the first time." He said, looking directly at Spade, "They had powers that made them, one way or another, unbeatable by anyone without very specific countering abilities. This was except for one player, with the unmistakable ability to kill everything he attacked... and he could... uhh..." Alan dozed off and seemed to forget where he was for a second, before snapping back into it. However, before he could speak Spade walked to the edge of the platform smiling.

"OOOOHH" he said, "So that's my class!" The look on his face was happier than ever.
"There's a very specific way I could prove it, but rather than do that I'll just show you."

Spade stepped off of his platform, signaling a loud siren to go off. The woman took a few steps back, shrieking at the top of her lungs and pulling a pistol from her pocket. She pointed it at Spade and shot him directly in the head several times. He fell backwards from the impact. Kira covered her eyes in terror, not knowing how to process the severe amount of blood dripping from his face, and Alan once again was dozing off.
The woman however had an astonished look on her face at this point as Spade stood back up and spat out several bullets, each of which dissolved upon touching the ground.

"See? Not a scratch on me!" Spade said, rubbing his face, "Nice aim though... so I can leave?"
The woman nodded silently, as the door opened automatically. There stood a different kind of guard, one who looked much more important than the others. He looked at Spade, then at Kira and Alan.
"This is over, now." He had his eyes trained on Spade again, "You guys have to come with me though, we're gonna run some tests at HQ."
"No."
Spade picked up the gun and shot himself in the head, then laughed happily as nothing happened.
"Just kidding, what kind of tests?"
"The endurance kind."

Meanwhile

Aaron almost had a heart attack in the bathroom stall, as the floating ball of light etched closer to him.
"How the hell... what th-"
The voice cut him off.
"I have been watching you. You, classless human, are precisely what I have been looking for."

He held back a girlish shriek as the ball of light flew into his body. The voice was now in his head.
I will lead you to the relic. With your current classless skills you will be able to use it...
I should probably write a new story... but will I finish it?

Pretty slow for a part 1, but eh there was a bit of stuff I kinda HAD to put in.

Don't worry, you'll all show up eventually, when the actual action starts! Oh, and at some point I'm going to switch to first person view, just not soon. Part 2 tomorrow, at you'll get at least 3 this week! Hope you enjoyed

"Use what?!" Aaron exhaled, rushing to the bathroom mirror. "Classless? Wait is that my class? Classless?!"

Classless is the absence of a class, therefore it cannot be your class. Obviously I have much to explain, however it can be postponed until you find the relic.

Aaron was touching his face frantically, opening his mouth and checking for... he wasn't quite sure, but he knew it was something.
"What relic? Can it give me a class?"

It will assign you a specific class. Before you request further information, I must inform you that if you speak of me to others you will likely be reported to administrators. It is very important that you never reveal my presence.

Aaron stepped away from the mirror and observed his face. If the administrators believed he was cheating, he'd surely be executed like the "False Gods" he heard about on television. As long as the ball of light stayed in his head, nobody would know.

He (mentally) conversed with the ball of light for hours as he continued his day, breezing through the tedium he now called life. Two years ago, before the apocalypse, virtual gaming was his life. It was an escape from an otherwise uneventful life, and even though he was neither the best nor bravest in them, they made life fun.

Now, however, virtual reality was no longer a part of his life. Entering virtual reality inside of virtual reality does extremely messed up things to your mind, so it's outlawed. He lived in a virtual world, that perfectly mirrored the feel of real life. He spawned in the Unreal United States, and lived there for almost a year now. His life consisted of studying, school, and sleep on constant repeat. The most action the 17 year old had seen in game was a street brawl between foreigners and a few Androids. Even then, he wasn't tall enough to see the action. Maybe he was bored, maybe he wanted to see some real action, or maybe he finally got a good excuse to leave school, but he felt oddly willing to accept whatever... and so he set out to find his class.

The Gamer
The next night...
It was midnight, in a dark forest where nobody could possibly be watching.
Aaron stared at the floating panel once more, contemplating what it meant. Unreality was supposed to be a perfect blend of reality and fiction, but this was clearly not real. It couldn't be.

"Aaron... level 1..." He re-read it aloud once more, as if to clarify it was actually there. "Species, human..." He stared blankly and let out a faint whisper "Class: God..."

He couldn't hold back the sheer excitement he felt, of all the classes he could have promoted to, he became a God. He felt like a fictional story protagonist, but he knew that'd be silly.

;-;

After a few minutes of celebration he calmed down and asked the the logical next question he had in his mind.

"So what do I do with it?" He said, "This looks like a message so naturally..."

I believe this is a prompt. You may be able to maneuver through them at will. For now, it would be wise to go home, you may draw unwanted attention to yourself if you stay here longer.

You'll all be in, but if I move the plot any faster than this it'll seem forced. (It already does a little)

Since I missed yesterday's "deadline" I'm thinking two tomorrow. Definitely gonna have an action scene!

As Aaron walked home, he quickly figured out how to manipulate the panel. It now moved along with him, tracking his eye movement in complete darkness so that he could both focus on real life and read it. It modeled many of the other virtual gaming menus, only it seemed to be manipulated by willpower rather than voice or thought. He continued through the many prompts each providing a hint towards how to use his new God powers, but something seemed off about it. Rather than immediately becoming an all powerful deity capable of destroying cities at will, it appeared as though he had to level up and upgrade his skill points. This wouldn't bother him, usually people start at level 1, but apparently some of the cute woodland creatures were at higher levels than he was! Nevertheless, he had skill points to distribute. 10 to be exact. He sat on a tree stump, and thought aloud carefully.

Have you decided yet?
The voice which he at this point decided to call Light asked him.

"So some of these skills max out at one skill point, like 'Anti-Manipulation'," Aaron said confusedly, "but others seem to require several skill points for their maximum effects..."
He moved the menu towards himself, within arms length, and pointed to a little button.
"This here can automatically assign skill points as they become necessary to my life. There are so many to choose from that I think using this would be better."

I am in no position to argue with this idea. Do as you see fit, I believe you should now make your own choices.

"Fine."

Aaron chose the auto-select option, and his vision was immediately overloaded with new panels. Typically, he'd look over them but he somehow knew what each did, and how to function them. One was a square map with an overhead view of himself in the forest. He focused on zooming it out and managed to see that he wasn't so far from civilization. Another was glowing with the words "New Quest: Go Home". He closed it, and all the others. He was tired and decided to see what everything was the next day.

Elsewhere...

Ardith wasn't just an android. He was the first of his kind, created to be the leader (or at least central commander) of his kind. In the event of an emergency, he was created to kill any other combat android.

Even the ones who level cities.

Hundreds of thousands of bits went into making him the most innovative technological creation known to mankind.
What went wrong with him, you might ask? Surely precautions must have been taken to prevent him from going rogue.
Well in order to train him, he was sent into actual war against a terrorist faction known simply as "League". During this time, he witnessed the death of so many humans. Thousands of them killed, and everyone seemed to be mourning their loss. As for the other combat androids, absolutely no tears were shed. They were quickly gathered for materials and replaced by another unlucky robotic brother to be mercilessly sent on suicide missions. He was more than a resource. He was unsure of whether or not he was alive or not, but he knew for certain that all robots had more value.

Artificial Heart

Ardith arose from the water swiftly, yet so smoothly that not even the slightest wave was made on the surface. He magnetized his hands and began to silently ascend the side of Atlantis, the large ocean city. It was a series of tiered circles, 5 to be exact, becoming less impoverished as you reach the center. The buildings were less modern and more oriental, with many Asian inspired themes, at least on the first three low tiers. The last fourth was higher, and had many modern looking buildings and facilities. The fifth almost towered to the sky, and had water which flowed down through man-made smooth concrete rivers, resembling large water slides that led hundreds of miles through Atlantis into the ocean. Ardith didn't know much about the top tier, as most databases hadn't had much information about it, but rumors told of a modern-day castle-mansion hybrid where the human ruler, Poseidon, called home. Almost no average citizen had ever been to the 5th tier, and those who went took an oath not to speak of it. Even the 4th towered over Ardith from this perspective, but nevertheless he decided the trek was worth it. Within less than a minute he made up the side of the 1st tier and without any directions began his mad sprint to the 5th tier, sticking to the shadows and gripping a dagger to assassinate any humans he happened to see. He appeared to be much more robotic in his stealth mode, as the alloy his touch exoskeleton like skin was made of turned completely black. His hair hardens and morphs into the appearance of a thin helmet.

Unfortunately for him, mostly elves populated Atlantis, as that was their initial spawn location, and he had no beef with them. Every human he saw received a swift dagger to the throat, and fell lifelessly onto the floor... until...

Ardith quickly leaped to the top of a nearby pagoda (one of those real old-fashioned Chinese buildings... Google it). According to everything in his databanks what he just saw couldn't have happened. He missed a swing of his dagger and was disarmed by someone he believed to be unsuspecting... nobody has EVER surprised him, let alone caught him by surprise.

"You can't expect to do me in like that, cold one." He recognized a voice that appeared to be human directly behind him. He turned around to see his dagger firmly stuck into the pagoda roof with a peculiar name carved out in large letters.
It read:

ARCTIC

Ardith scanned the area, but to no avail; There were no signs of life within 50 meters. He had no time to wonder who that was, his target was still very much alive. He approached his dagger and yanked it out of the rooftop then scanned the area again. Nothing. He continued on his way towards the center, this time deciding that stopping to kill humans wasn't worth the time, so he'd just ignore them. He ran along both swiftly and stealthily, soon making it to the next tier. With his current calculations, he'd be at the top in a mere hour. His current calculations ruled out one unforeseen factor. Whilst running, he came to a suspicious open clearing. Had he developed fear, he would have probably felt caution at this moment. Being a robotic lifeform, he felt neither fear nor caution. He did sense two living beings, of elven descent. He stopped dead in the center of the clearing and observed the surroundings. The battleground would be here. He clutched his dagger firmly, and waited, as it was too dark for him to make visually see his enemies. He would have to wait for them to make the first move.

Suddenly a completely white shuriken zipped through the air, barely missing Ardith's arm. He remained still.
Two more flew through the air, followed by a flaming ball. The shurikens missed, but the fireball hit directly... did nothing to the robots metallic exterior.

"I guess it's my turn!" Ardith shouted, using sound amplification technology to magnify his voice.

He paused, turned in the direction of the fireball, and hurled his dagger into the darkness. After a quick scan, he noticed one less lifeform.

"Good!" He shouted, "Now unless you'll show yourselves, I'll be on my w-"

A flash of white shot across the nighttime darkness, from one side of the clearing to the next immediate opposite, severing Ardiths arm from his android body. Once more, it happened again, removing a chunk of metal from what would be his left ribcage.

"Interesting," he said, unfazed by any of what was happening, "I guess you're not as fast as I thought."

The light flashed again, but Ardith held out his good/only arm and caught it. It was a young, male dark elf dressed in complete black, and the look in it's eye was both surprised and furious. It was holding Ardith's dagger as well. Before it could make any sudden movements, Ardith snatched the dagger from its hand and threw him to the ground.

"I'll kill you." The elf said, "I SWEAR I-"
It was kicked with tremendous force, enough to make it look like a rag doll flying just above the ground.
"I doubt that." Ardith said, "I highly doubt that."
His severed robotic parts hovered it the air, then flew back into his body. He took slow, decisive steps towards his opponent, who was getting back on his feet several meters ahead of him.

"Stealth mode, off." Ardith quickly said, "Precision combat, on."
He was enveloped in light for a split second, before showing a completely new form. Rather than appearing nimble yet unprotected, he appeared to have full samurai armor on. Where he held a dagger was now a katana, and his opponent could only gaze in horror at what appeared to be his last opponent.

In an instant the android sped forward and threw the blade high into the air. The dark elf was frozen in fear at this point, accepting it's fate. Ardith leaped high, catching the blade and came down with Earth shattering momentum.

"Not on my watch!" A peculiar voice shouted, "If anybody's coming down on that kid it's mrrmphr!"

A projectile faster than any Ardith had witnessed had sped through the darkness and collided with his blade, stopping all of it's momentum inches before the boys face. The elven boy took this opportunity to get to his feet and run towards the voice, before running back towards Ardith.
"Please just kill m-" He was stopped by an older looking dark elf.

Ardith was, for the first time, confused. He could've sworn that his blade was just blocked by... teeth. He had already wasted too much time, and was ready to run away until he heard the older elves voice.

"Back again, eh- cold one?" the mature dark elf said, "They call me Arctic, and unfortunately I can't let you go this time."

Arctic held his hand out and several ice spears quickly materialized before flying at Ardith, who cut through each of them before being hit by another odd projectile- pants which blocked his vision while another ice spears shattered against his chest.

"So it's not strong enough to kill you? Fine then." Arctic said, completely unphased by the pants on his enemies face, "I guess it's time for something new."

Arctic rushed forwards and clenched his fists, covering them in ice. Ardith, who had now been freed of his pants affliction, was now ready to fight. The android slashed at Arctic, who ducked the blade and uppercutted. When the hit connected, it almost broke Arctic's fist and Ardith didn't move at all.

"OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU!?!" Arctic shouted, breaking his calm composed character, "ALAN HELP!"
"Alan?" Ardith asked, looking around. He spotted an old, pantsless man chasing the little dark elf boy with some candy. The boy stopped and kicked the man in his balls before fleeing.

"Damn..." Arctic said, "You won't win this!"

He launched another punch, this time at Ardiths gut. Once again, it hurt very badly.
"You've won this match." Arctic said, holding back tears, "But our ace in the hole hasn't even shown up yet!"

By this time, it was broad daylight. Ardith didn't even care about killing Poseidon anymore. He'd have to wait until night when he could sneak in without trouble. He considered killing the old man, but he appeared to be near death anyway, so he turned away and began to walk towards the second tier again, where he'd kill some humans until night.

"Precision combat off." He said, "Base form." A light enveloped him as he walked, and soon he was regular once more. He seemed to look human, with pale skin (which was actually a superdurable skin like alloy) and messy black hair. He disliked this form, but all the other ones expended too much energy to use and he just spent about 9 hours in them.
He was tired.

Before he could make it out of the clearing, he scanned for life. The readings froze him in his tracks. There were hundreds... no, thousands... It kept rising. There seemed to be an entire army of people approaching him... but he couldn't hear them marching. He stared at the empty space behind him, still with Arctic holding his hands in pain and Alan holding onto his manhood. He turned back around to see a single human walking nonchalantly in his direction. The human seemed to be a completely unassuming teenager, but he was undeniably every single lifeform Ardith's scanner picked up. He stopped and stared directly into Ardiths eyes for a moment.

"You're a robot? Cool... I'm Spade, and uhh..." The teenager peered over at the clearing. "Oh nevermind, there they are! Sorry!" Spade patted Ardith on the shoulder before running off to his companions. Ardith continued walking towards the second tier. Neither of the two knew just what the other was planning.

Neither knew that they were planning the exact same thing.
