The ID restriction is just for alt control. If you're a known active user then you're of course eligible to vote.

Yep, this is happening.
About time for a little social experiment...after two of our chat mods resigned, I figured we have space now to let the community have a chance at picking a chat mod. Instead of just assuming everyone is bias and will only suggest their friends, let's let you all prove yourselves to be responsible, reasonable users
coughcough. If it doesn't work out, lesson learned...otherwise, we had fun and it turned out well.If you wish to participate in the community vote, please read this through entirely:
I'm not giving the community all power, of course; there are a few rules and restrictions in place...
1. Only one vote per person, so choose who you wish to vote for wisely. One vote per household (any other users found on your IP will be discounted)
2. If your Member ID is higher than 103175, you are not eligible to vote (If you account-switched and your original ID was less than 103175, then you are eligible; but I need to know your original username.)
3. A user must have at least 4 votes to be eligible for modship. This amount might rise according to how voting goes. If no users reach this amount, the poll will be considered inconclusive and no promotions will be made based on the community's opinion.
4. I retain the right to decline votes if I strongly believe the voted user is unsuitable, so I suggest you should not vote for known rule-breakers.
5. You cannot vote for yourself.

6. Begging for mod votes still counts as begging for modship and is therefore a chat violation. Don do et.
Asking for votes will likely just make people disrespect you more, so it's not a good idea to do it anyway.
How to vote & other details
- To submit your vote, PM me your ballot. Do not submit your vote in this thread, any votes submitted here will be discounted.
- Use the following format in the title of the PM:
Vote: [Full Username]
Include anything extra you might like to mention in the body of the message.
-If there is an eligible popular vote, that user will be PM'd with the option to either accept or deny the moderation position. If the "votee" denies the position, and if there is an eligible runner-up votee, that user will be offered the position instead. Otherwise, the voting will still be considered closed and have no winner.
- If there is a tie, I will be the tie breaker.
- This vote is for a new chat moderator, only...votes for any other position will not be accepted. Votes are not going to be made public.
- If/when a new chat mod is voted in, traditional measures will be taken (trial modding/training) as it would with any other mod. They are, of course, not immune to demotion.
- All users with a member ID of 103175 or lower are eligible to vote, whether you're a moderator, forum user, or even if you've been voted for. This has no running candidates, there's nothing else than can disqualify you to be voted for. If you're apart of the community, you're apart of the vote.
- (new) You can change your vote, however this must be done before the deadline.
-Voting closes Saturday evening (7/18) at 9:00pm EST

So spread the word. Think carefully about who you want to moderate your chat posts.
Voting for your friend isn't necessarily frowned upon...after all, you must know them pretty well. However, keep in mind that your "bestest buddy ol' pal" would be required to ban and warn whenever it's necessary, and that might include banning/warning you. Mods expressing either bias or favoritism are at high risk for demotion, so it would be a waste to vote your friend in with hopes they'll let you get away with violations. Pick someone who you think will actually do a good job.
