One thing I've noticed quite often here is how stupid, pointless, etc people claim reddit is. Most user here use reasons such as "the people there act smart and are completely retarded" "it is full of pornography and immature people" when in reality, none of you have really even been on reddit. You prefer to make room for yourself in the already massive enough hivemind and use any reason of already heard to bash reddit whenever it is mentioned.

What bothers me the most is how you compare it to websites like 4chan. You CAN'T compare reddit to a website. It isn't a website based on one thing. Why? There is a subreddit for almost everything. Basically, saying reddit is like 4chan is the same thing as saying "the Internet is like 4chan."

"Actually AntiChrist, the Internet IS, in fact, like 4chan. It is full of pedos, porn, etc."

I know you guys too well. Of course you're about to say that. The Internet is not like 4chan because:

1. There are websites dedicated to certain companies, music, shopping, sports, ect. All of which having nothing to do with anything of mature content.

2. There exists the opposite of 4chan, or should I say, everything that is 4chan. That would be websites dedicated to stopping racism, sexism, bigotry, etc.

3. Games. I'm sure you remember games you played online as a kid, such as webkinz, neopets, nick.com, Disney . Com, etc. this even further backs up my point because it is something we've all seen. We have all played games online that had no graphic content in it whatsoever. Games that are part of the internet.

Let's go back to what I said about the hivemind and how most of you have never been on, or lie about ever taking a look at reddit. The proof that I know this is right before this paragraph. There are a huge universe of subreddits even I have yet to discover. The majority of them have nothing wrong with them at all. Because of the variety in reddit due to the subreddits, it doesn't make sense to use any adjective to describe reddit. You can not say "reddit is good". You can not say "reddit is bad".

Reddit as a whole can not be one of those things. That is like saying "humans are awful, selfish". A human can be selfish, immoral and worthless. A human can be good, trustworthy and generous. You can not be so simple minded when it comes to talking about the human race as a whole. Either you lack common sense or you are just too lazy to actually think for yourself rather than spread your ass cheeks for the hive mind.

What I see too often from people who say stupid things about reddit in an attempt to make everyone agree with them, not only on this website but many others, is that every once in a while people will talk about their "experience" on reddit. This list I'm about to show you is a quick summary of how to put together a generic rant about reddit:



This is what everyone does. I see it all the time. Here's what I want you to do, go on these subreddits;

r/writingprompts

r/Nintendo

r/politics

r/worldnews

r/philosophy

r/askreddit

And the subreddit for whatever your hobbies are. You'll assume that reddit is a mature, civilized place if those are the only subreddits you've ever been on. Want the opposite effect? Go on these:

r/lolicon

r/darkhumor

r/WTF

r/ew

r/mutilation

r/tumblr

r/4chan

r/youtubepoop

r/sadist

r/sociopath

r/satan

the list goes on and on. Don't assume that just because I listed more bad subreddits than good ones that there are way more bad on reddit than good. See what I did there? I anticipated exactly what you were about to say to try and prove me wrong. Why? Because the truth is, most of you won't admit to jumping on the "hate reddit" bandwagon. Most of you, especially the younger users like to try way too hard to sound more mature than you really are. You act superior to those who sarcastically talk about how much they love pornography and whatnot.

You act like swearing, watching pornography, not taking every single thing seriously are the traits of someone who is less mature than you are and feel the need to always try to get on everybody's good side by putting on this fake act. I freaking dare you to try and deny this. No, this doesn't apply to everyone. Does that mean I'm probably talking about you? The reason I need to mention this is due to the excuses you guys are likely to be listing instead of "Ok, thanks for clearing that up anti Christ. I guess the stuff most of us say about reddit are common misconceptions" which is ACTUALLY the mature thing to do. I admit to being wrong a few times on this website. Is that a weakness? Does that make me any less smart than any of you?

Your emotions, your negative experiences on reddit, what negative impacts reddit has had on you in the past, who you are, that is irrelevant. The bottom line is that reddit doesn't "suck" and is not infested with "idiots". Reddit is reddit. There is variety when it comes to the kind of people that go on that website.

There is one more thing I want to point out. This would actually be a legit question:

"AntiChrist, you say reddit isn't a bad place just because it has awful subreddits, but why have those subreddits in the first place if the website is capable of being perfect by only keeping the good ones?"

Let me answer that question with another question. Is reddit really capable of being perfect? Is any website. Not really. The reason it can't be perfect is the same reason those subreddits are neccesary. With the subreddits dividing the groups of people on reddit, we don't have the wrong things in the wrong places. We have r/philosophy and r/pornography so that people aren't spamming porn in a thread where people are trying to have a serious discussion.

Even when things are posted in the wrong subreddit, which doesn't happen often thanks to the subreddits dedicated to things everyone else wants, they have moderators. Let me tell you something about their moderators. They are efficient. I once tagged something wrong on accident. I had no clue how to delete the link, but in less than 30 seconds, my post was already taken care of by a moderator. It may of been a bot though. I have no idea.

Sites like 4Chan and Reddit are just full of memes and I freaking.Hate.Memes. I'm so sick and tired of Shrek, I don't want to see the troll face ever again in my life and i'm tired of greentexting.

I hate Tumblr because the community is ing retarded.

If you never want to see the troll face again, go to the right subreddits. Never want to get in a political debate again? Go on a subreddit meant for goofing off or something not all serious. No matter who you are, there are subreddits you will enjoy. There's even r/INTJ which I freaking love
