Pokemon Emerald: Origin Story
LaughingJill (2014-02-03 06:26:08)"Soooo bored!" May exclaimed. She had went on route 105 and had no sign of any wild Pokemon. Torchic was by her side, nuzzled under her arms.
"Tor..." It mumbled. May sighed, she was never going to be able to do anything if she couldn't get her Pokemon to fight. She grunted and layed out on a flat boulder. She kept her only Pokemon in range of her sight as it pecked at the grass, picking up any seeds nestled into the soil.
"Wurmple." A faint saying came from behind May. She perked up, "Torchic, come here boy!" She cooed. The Torchic hopped up onto the boulder and came to her side. She rolled over and looked at the other side as a Wurmple had barely noticed her and became hostile.
"Torchic, Scratch!" She yelled. The Torchic sprang at the Wurmple, scratching it with the talons on its feet, knocking it back. The Wurmple shot a small pellet of silk at Torchic, that barely missed it.
"Scratch!" May yelled a second time. Torchic lept at the Wurmple again, striking it in the soft underbelly. The Wurmple regained whatever composure it had left and tackled Torchic with as much strength as it could.
"Tackle!" May said, giving the last comand that would surely end the battle. Torchic lept at the Wurmple, knocking it back a ways. Instead of being defeated, the Wurmple tried to stand and fight, barely staggering to meet the hight of Torchic.
"Hold on Torchic!" May grabbed a PokeBall and threw it at the Wurmple, it hit it directly and wobbled as it hit the grass. It wobbled once, twice, and then a third time until it stopped.
"Oh yeah!" May said, throwing a fist into the air. Her Torchic hadn't gained any experience, but she added a new Pokemon to her team, she casually strode to the PokeBall, and let the Wurmple out. It groaned from the pain of the battle, but May pulled out a potion and sprayed down the poor Pokemon. It quickly healed and perked up, looking over its new Trainer.
"Wurmple." It spoke. May gave the same affectionate pat on the head as she had given the Torchic. She then again spread herself on the boulder, with the Torchic nestled under her arm, and the new Wurmple curled into a ball on her stomach. The sunshine was abundant, and made May doze off a bit.
She had awakened later, it being dusk. She yawned, the two Pokemon were scrounging for food for each other. Torchic had pecked away at the seeds as the Wurmple ate a couple of Oran Berries that had fallen. May smiled at the two of her Pokemon and put them away in their PokeBalls as soon as they had finished eating. She stretched her legs and started to walk towards the adjacent town, where she could spend the night at the Pokemon Center. The Center was opened at all hours for exhausted trainers to rest at. She entered through the doors and said hi to the Nurse Joy that had greeted her. She stopped by the door that held many beds for Pokemon Trainers to spend the night. She opened it, and saw Kascade petting his Poochyena.
"Oh, well. I see someone just went through her first day as a Trainer, eh?" He said teasingly. May plopped down on the bed adjacent to him, "Shaddup." Came out Mumbled. It made Kascade chuckle. "You know," He started, "I barely got any training done with him today. There wasn't too many Pokemon roaming around."
May smiled, "I didn't get any training done, but I did catch a Wurmple, and dozed off in the sun." She yawned, "I'm going to sleep, mind waking me in the morning?"
Kascade yawned, "Whoever gets up earliest will wake the other." May nodded in agreement, and slept smiling.
(Edit: Wurmple, not Weedle. I hate that Pokemon. Guh, it's so frustrating when that happens.)

LaughingJill (2014-02-04 04:50:10)Kascade was still asleep when May awoke. She straightened her hair back into its normal shape and then went over to Kascade's bed.
"Hey, time to get up." She said softly. Kascade only gave a grunt for a reply. May got a little irritated and shook him.
"Hu-wha?" He mumbled. "Seriously, why is it that boys are so hard to wake up?" May scoffed at him. Kascade yawned and stretched before he stood up in his bed. "Could be that I don't care."
May sighed, "You sure are a keeper." Kascade bent backwards to meet her gaze, "Oh really?" He mocked. May flicked him in the forehead before she set off again down route 106. She was going to go through the forest to the next town over. However, she wasn't going to challenge the gym just yet.
"I think I need to train a bit before I do anything." May said to herself. Out of nowhere, a man jumped in front of her.
"Ah ah ah! Don't think you're going anywhere just yet young lady!" He yelled. May jumped back, "Don't hurt me!"
The man adjusted a pair of glasses on his face and studied her, "Hurt you? Nononono. I was simply going to challenge you to a battle!" He said.
May grew an unimpressed face, "What if I don't want to?" She asked. The man adjusted his glasses again, "Never heard the word no."
"Come on out Torchic." May said, letting the small bird out. The man threw out a Seedot and looked at May's Torchic.
"This'll be easy! Seedot! Tackle!" The Seedot ran at Torchic on stubby legs. "Torchic, Scratch." As soon as Seedot got close, Torchic had scratched furiously at the soft shell, cracking it.
"Seedot, Harden!" Yelled the man, Seedot began to envelop in a sheen, covering the scratches and cracks in a sappy like fluid. "Now Tackle!" Seedot ran faster, hitting into Torchic, nocking it back.
"Torchic, Tackle!" And then Torchic returned the blow harder, slightly cracking Seedot's shell, yet still staggering it back.
"Harden." The man said, adjusting his glasses. Again, the Seedot had another sappy sheen around cracks.
May began to become Irritated, "Scratch the top of it!" And Torchic ran at the other pokemon, jumping up and then scratching the head of Seedot. It did the trick as Seedot fell over, still.
"What a shame." The man began, "Here." He flipped a gold coin over to May. "What's this for?"
"Well, it's nice to battle someone, and besides, you handled yourself okay." He then walked to the side, allowing May to continue on her path. She walked to the entrance of the woods, going inside the thick brush of trees.
Inside, May could hear the chirps of various Pokemon. She waded through grass, avoiding any if possible. She made it to the other side easily. Where she saw a sailor of some kind, he wore a blue bandanna over his head and was drawing patterns in the dirt with a stick. May shrugged it off as she entered Rostboro.
She immediately passed the gym, the Shop, but stopped at the pokemon center to heal Torchic before she set out to one of the fields. She sat in the grass, waiting. It was a good half hour before she heard her first pokemon.
"Nincada." Felt as if it were hissed from the grass. She let Torchic out, and faced the Nincada.
Without hesitation, the Nincada swiped at Torchic, which dodged it. "Scratch." May called. Torchic gained on Nincada, scratching the shell with its Talons. However, Nincada grabbed Torchic and tossed it aside.
"Tackle!" May shouted. Torchic gained on the Nincada again, slamming its body into the insect, knocking it struggling on it's back. "Scratch Torchic!" May called once more, and Torchic flew forward, hitting the stomach of the overflipped Pokemon. The Nincada flipped over and swiped lightly at Torchic. May took out another Pokeball and threw it, hitting Nincada on the back. One wobble, two wobbles, then the third and final wobble.
"Another Victory!" May shouted more than loudly. She covered her mouth as she got a smile from a Hiker a ways away. May picked up the Pokeball and let the beaten Pokemon out. Spraying it down with a potion. It jumped back to life and clicked its jaws together, looking at her and then at Torchic.
"Hey there little miss." Called a man. May looked at him, he was blonde haired and hid his eyes behind sunglasses. "Let me guess, you want to battle?" May said. The man bent down, attempting to pet the Nincada but got an angry his, he talked as he rummaged through his pockets, "No, not really. You see, I was just looking around for worthy trainers and happened to see you," He paused as he produced an Oran berry and gave it to Nincada, which chewed on it gratefully. "As I was saying. You handled the little fella pretty well. Yet the pokemon you battled with had very little moves to use. So," He paused again as he held a handul of seeds to Torchic, which pecked at them, "I decided that I have too many TMs." He reached into his pocket and produced a small ball and tossed it to May. "That one's Ember, a real good one for a fire type, albeit a tad bit powerful."

"Moving Day!" Shouted an excited May. Today was when Littleroot became her new home, she hastily had set everything up in her room and even helped move things.
"Now May, don't be so hasty," Said her Mother. "Sorry Mom, I'm just excited to get my first Pokemon! I'm a trainer after all!" May checked her bag, she had everything she needed from her PokeBalls to the two extra potions she brought with her.
"Take it easy now," Mother added, "I don't want you to get hurt out there, follow your Father's advice!" May turned to her Mother and smiled, "The worst that could happen is me whiting out!" And then, May ran to her Father's Lab, where a new starter Pokemon waited for her. She opened the door, and scanned the room quickly. A young boy was conversing with her Father, seeming as if he was trying to decide on a starter Pokemon.
"I would recomend Torchic, it's a great Pokemon to begin with," Said May's Father.
"I'm, not quite too sure, I may just choose at random," The young boy said. May ran up to her Father with a big smile, "Hey Dad!" Her Father turned to her distracted by the sudden appearance of his Daughter, "Ah, May. I was just helping Kascade here what Pokemon to decide!" He chuckled. The now named Kascade shrugged and yawned, "How about letting your Daughter go first, I'm just going to pick from whatever options are left..." He then eyed May, with a curious look. May eyed him back, trying to imitate his facial expression. "Ahem, May?" Her Father interrupted.
"Hm?" May grunted, then snapped back to reality as her Father held out six PokeBalls. "Oh, right." She mumbled, her hand reached for the far left one, because she new that one held Torchic, her favorite. After she had grabbed it, she let the Pokemon out.
"Torchic." It exclaimed. She bent down to size up to it as best she could, and petted the small orange bird on the head. Kascade took one of the PokeBalls and let the small animal out, it contained Poochyena. "Haha, I like the ones that can grow into strong fighters!" He smiled, "Maybe with this little fella, I can bag me an Absol."
"Ho oh, you two are quite enthusiastic. I may not want to keep you from going off on your own. Do keep in mind that the world is a dangerous place. Pokemon have grown a bit more aggressive over the years..." May's Father said. Kascade held up his Pokemon, and scratched it behind the ears, "Hey May, after a while, mind a Battle?"
May returned her Torchic back into its PokeBall, then smirked, "I'd like that."
May then stood up, and nodded to her dad and ran out the door, she was so very excited, she felt as if nothing could get her. She was the ruler of her own domain, she could conquer anything she wanted. Yet she was still young, if she was going to do anything, she needed to beat the gym leaders from all around Hoenn.
