It has recently come to my attention that multiple threads have been being created about single subjects. The point of posting a new thread is to start a discussion about a particular topic. Creating new threads about a stale topic defeats this purpose. Chances are, if no one wanted to listen to your input on an existing thread, they won't want to hear it again, posted in a new thread.
Example:
The 2012 threads. I know you all want to tell what you think about the "end of the world," but wouldn't it be better to post your opinions about it in the existing 2012 thread you saw? The same amount of people that would look at the new dumb 2012 thread you would make, maybe even more, would see it if you posted in an original 2012 thread.
Why this is a problem:
Making a new thread when there is an existing thread could be considered spam. Nobody wants to see ten threads about Christmas, 2012, McFox, or whatever your poison is.
How to fix this:
Before making a thread, think about it. Has this thread been posted before? Does this thread really belong in this forum? And before you go to make a new thread, look through the first 3 or so pages, and maybe even use the crappy Google Search through the Forums, and see if there is a thread to similar or the same effect. Also, if you see a repeat thread, inform the person. Don't be an ass about it, politely inform them that a thread exists on this, redirect them there, and politely ask them to close the thread.
In closing:
Thank you for taking your time to read my ramble, and I hope you will think before posting a thread, and look for an existing thread on the topic. Overall, be nice to users who are posting these threads, and think before you post.
