60fps should be standard for 3DS games
Crush42 (2012-10-17 22:53:31)30 FPS is fine for games like OOT3D, RE:R, and other games where speed isn't necessarily vital, but I agree that a 60 FPS-standard would be epic. MK7, DOAD, Tekken 3D, and several others run at 60 FPS, but if the 3DS can handle 240 FPS (I think I learned something new today!

pikarceus (2012-10-17 23:35:45)From what I've heard, MGS's framerate during gameplay jumps from around 20-30, but during cutscences, it almost looks like a slideshow, as the framerate drops to single digits.
The human eye can't tell the difference once you break 60fps, so while 240 sounds awesome, there is no reason for it.
pikarceus (2012-10-17 23:37:12)@Man-I've watched my friend play, I'd say it's a decent 30, but online it really slows down. Of course though, that's the online server not framerate.
Dragnet (2012-10-18 01:35:51)It seems like Nintendo purposefully keeps graphics low just to attempt to get you to focus on the gameplay itself. After all, the HD WiiU is just catching up with current generation graphics.

What I wanna know is where's the caveman
Crush42 (2012-10-18 20:53:06)@NerdAndProud, OOT3D was 30, with or without 3D. The game itself isn't very fast, which is why the framerate feels as smooth as it does. RE:R also runs at 30 FPS (most of the time), and since that's also a fairly slow-moving game, it matches the framerate, making it seem to move smoother than some of the other games. Also, the amount of 3D used doesn't affect the framerate; if the framerate is affected by one level of 3D, it's affected by all levels equally, from my experience. :l

pikarceus (2012-10-18 21:18:28)The 3D cuts the framerate in half in Super Street Fighter IV 3D and Dead or Alive: Dimensions, in orher games, it may just cause minor drops.
@pooface-Not really true, when you look at games like Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Super Smash Bros., Kid Icarus: Uprising, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Metroid Prime Hunters, and the Mario Galaxy Games. And as I stated Mario Kart DS got 60frames.

Seeing how DS games like Mario Kart DS ran at 60fps, I seriously think every 3DS game should run at 60fps.
Only exceptions should be games that seriously tax the system like Resident Evil: Revelations.
Or of course, if the developer in question has a small budget.
But for most games made by Nintendo, Capcom, EA, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Konami, Namco Bandi, Activision and other big guns that are making 3DS games, zero reason for all the crappy framerates we've been getting.
OoT3D only runs at 30
3D Land only runs at 30
MGS 3D runs under 30
Tales of the Abyss runs at 30 with drops
Kid Icarus: Uprising runs well under 60
BlazBlue runs at around 30 or under
Okay, 30 fps doesn't break the game (Most of the time), but 60fps is just much more smoother and the game both plays and looks loads better.
