The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Review
Ron1212 (2012-05-17 03:28:39)Shoot. Forgot a score.
I give it a 9.8/10 The game came close to perfection, but could have been improved by making the Master Quest available at the begginning, since players who have already played OoT could play a new challenge.
EDIT: The score is now 9.75. Thanks for the warning Pika.

pikarceus (2012-05-17 21:32:27)Bring the score down to 9.75. A professional review scores in increments of .25
Pretty good review. Could have spent less time on the story, more on the graphics and gameplay elements. Those are new. The story is exactly the same as the original.
Ron1212 (2012-05-17 21:35:19)I really didn't know what to put for the graphics...but thanks for the heads-up anyways.

I know. Pika already did this. I got permission from him. It's okay. Here goes nothing!
You've played Zelda before. You've experienced the classic original, praised the first ever 3D Zelda, cowered in fear at the might of the skull kid, experienced the powers of the Wind Waker, became a wolf under twilight, and flew high up above the sky on your Loftwing. Zelda games really never get old. But sometimes they lose their touch- as game graphics improve, game systems become more advanced, and gamers plead for more. That's why Nintendo decided to remake a personal favorite of many fans-Ocarina of Time. It was the first 3D Zelda game back then, and now again, its the first 3D Zelda. Why? Because it's on the Nintendo 3DS.
New features, easier water temple, advanced graphics in 3D, the flipped Master Quest, what more could a Zelda fan ask for?
STORY
It's the same story you experienced more than a decade ago, but this time, maybe even better?
You start off as a Kokri, living in the Kokri Woods. The Great Deku Tree guides all the Kokri children. You could say he's the leader. Because he is.
Each Kokri child has his or her own fairy. Except for one Kokri.
CHUCK NORRIS, BECAUSE HE DOESNT NEED A FAIRY
LOL, JK, it's Link. You, to be more specific. But one day, Navi the fairy is given a mission by the Great Deku Tree. And so, at that point on, Navi is your own personal fairy.
And so the story goes on. At first, you'll need to find three spiritual stones and the Ocarina of Time to open the Door of Time in the Temple of Time so you can become the Hero of Time in the game Ocarina of Time 3D. That's a lot of times isn't it?
But just as soon as you thought it was over, as soon as you pulled out a sacred sword, as soon as you thought you defeated Ganondorf-a whole new quest started. And I'm not just talking about the Master Quest. I'm talking about you going 7 years into the future, to find yourself as an adult.
Your actions from there decides the fate of Hyrule...no, the world, from there on!
Do you have what it takes? Will you get the girl...
Or play like one???
~
The story is just heartfelt. You'll know all of the main character's names and know their personalities and everything about them, and they truly stand out in the final moments of gameplay.
GAMEPLAY
Gameplay is pretty much the same, but you won't have to hold the bulky N64 Controller anymore. Instead, you hold the slim structure of the 3DS. L is to Z-Target, while R is to lift your shield. It's not that hard to master, but later on in the game the action gets tough.
The Ocarina is one of the key points of the game, as you can make low and high pitch, create your own nice little tunes, or convince a person from a species called the gorons that you are the messenger for the Hyrule family. Yep. It's that cool.
Riding Epona is also another awsome feature, but later on in the game, you might rarely use her because of Ocarina teleporting.
Dungeons in this game get hard later on in this game. I find myself quitting constantly and giving up just because I'm stuck on a certain part of it.
GRAPHICS
What's to say here? The graphics are much improved from the N64's. It's in 3D. Now Link doesn't look all weird anymore. It looks animated, but that's what games are supposed to be like.
SOUND
The sound is improved a little from the 64, as they are a little bit clearer now.
The music is wonderful. Tons of catchy tunes, and I mean TONS. They'll be stuck in your head, and they won't be those annoying songs, but rather nice, gentle sounds that become so well-known you can hear them in the next installments of Zelda games again. I don't remember hearing the original Zelda theme in this game, but that's okay. This game was meant to bring a whole new experience, so they created a new theme for Hyrule Field.
CONCLUSION
It's the game everyone dreamed about. Not just a port, but a whole remake of a legendary game. And that game is Ocarina of Time. Times 3....
...D.
