How to use chatrooms icons in the forums
Wondering how I managed to show the chatroom only icons, above? Simply use the direct image.

Right click the icon you want and then select "Copy Image URL"...Then paste the URL between this code:

These commands only work in the chatrooms.
To use them, you must type the command in the beginning of your chat message. Be sure that there are no spaces or other characters in front of the command.

Here is the complete list of commands:

/me This will make your text purple, and remove the colon just after your username. This indicates an action. e.x:"User ate a potato!"

/raeg This will ban yourself for 10 minutes. You can type a message after the command to leave with final words
e.x: "User has raeged (Message)

/query (username) This will "query" a desired user. It will show the status(banned, or otherwise), and any authorities the user may have (mod) E.x: "/query Robdeprop" Result: "query Robdeprop: member, chat_mod, jokes_mod, forum_mod, pic_mod, profile_mod, draw_mod, links_mod, community_manager"

/bal This will broadcast your amount of 3DS Points in the chat. e.x: "User has 345 3DSPoints!"

/boon This will add 500 fake points to the /bal broadcast. e.x: "User has 845 3DSPoints!" (As apposed to 345) These additional points are fake, and will not become apart of your real balance.

/friends This will broadcast how many friends you have. e.x: "User has 24 friends!'

/pms This will broadcast how many PMs you have. e.x: "User has 47 Pms!"

/secrets This will broadcast how many Secrets you have. e.x: "User has 11 Secrets!"*
*A 'secret' is a PM which has the word "Secret" in the title.

/jab This will broadcast how many JABs you have e.x: "User has 3 JABs!"
*A "Jab" is a PM which has the word JAB in the title. (I think?)

/away This will broad cast to the chat that you are away. You can type any desired words afterwards.
e.x: "/away Gone, to eat dinner! BRB"
Result: " User is now away! Gone, to eat dinner! BRB"

/thd (ID) This will send you to a specified forum thread. You can find the thread's ID number at the bottom of it's page)

/fc This will broadcast your 3DS FC in the chatroom! You must have your FC written on your profile, prior to using this command.

/time This shows a timestamp

/enc This encrypts text to ASCI

/roll This will "roll" a random number between 1 and 6. Type:
/roll [number] to roll between 1 and whatever number you set.

/milk cow If you're the first to milk the cow every hour, you'll be rewarded with 3DSPoints! If you're lucky, you'll milk the WeIrd cow and be rewarded with even more points. But beware, if you fail to be the first to milk the cow, 5 3DSPoints will be deducted.

Unique Chat Commands:
"I think Robdebot is cool"
This will turn the chat upside down.

"SLBot needs to go blind."
This will turn also the chat upside down, though it's better quality.

"Everybody do the plaza shake"
This will make the chat background blink with many different colors.

"I wanna get SomeJuice"
This will make the chat rotate in circles.

"Open shell -Slbot"
This will make the chat turn black.

Reload the page to reset any of these commands.

Whispering a user in the chatrooms is simple. In the occupant (User's Online) list, click on the blue (or green) square next to the desired user's name. Then click on the "more" panel (if not automatically directed there). There should be a message box specifically for that user.

If that doesn't work, you can also whisper someone using the following chat command:
/whisperto username message
That's all. No commas, or extra spaces.

To set whispers for Friends Only, click on the "more" panel (be sure it's not set to whispers...if so, select "nav index" to return to the default menu) Then select "Ignore Settings"...here will be the option to set whispers to friends only.

Similar to whispering, click on the square next to a username that you wish to block and then go to the "more" panel (if not automatically transferred there)...below the whisper chatbox will be an Ignore button. Press it. Ta da, you can no longer see that user's chat messages, and their name will be crossed out on the userlist.

To unblock, repeat the same steps that you would to block them....the button should now say: "Unignore"

If your device won't let you do this, you can use a chat command instead:

/INTERNAL-ignore + User ID number

or

/INTERNAL-ignore - User ID number (To unignore)

Be sure to add the spaces.

When someone has blocked you, the box beside their username will be black instead of blue/green.

This was previously mentioned in the "Chatroom Commands" tab, however here is more in-depth information.

The trick to milking the cow is to be the first one to enter the command each hour. You can be off my a millisecond if other users are trying to do the same.

Pay attention to the chatroom clock. The clock is typically located above the list of online users...it's better to use this clock when trying to milk the cow, as your own system's clock may be off by a few minutes or seconds.

If you attempt to milk the cow within the first few minutes of the hour, you will get a temporary icon. Upon successfully milking the cow, you'll get a little bottle with a green checkmark through it ()....consider this your crown of Milk King.
If you fail to milk the cow, you'll get a little bottle with a red x through it...you can consider this icon your crown of "I tried".
This icon will go away within an hour, unless you attempt to milk the cow again.

Seeing a bunch of multicolored usernames? This is the effect of an ability (permission) called cSplit. This ability is obtained simply by chatting in the chatrooms. You will need to send a certain amount of chat messages in order to unlock it, and that amount has not been specified...so just sit back and have fun! Remember not to spam.

I've got Csplit! Now what?

You will need to use the following chat command to use the desired colors you want. Here is an example of how to use it (using my username as an example):

/cspl conf L=red a=green n=blue i=yellow

Therefore, the "L" will be red, the "A" will be green, "N" will be blue; and the "I" will be yellow. (Lani)

Using HEX** codes will also work, and are often easier to use.

**Every single shade of color has a HEX code. I suggest going to http://www.colorpicker.com to select a color you want. These codes can be used for any color placement, whether its for styling your profile, coloring your name, etc. Add a # before the HEX code, otherwise it might not work.

Keep in mind that it's "case sensitive", meaning if there are any capital letters in your username, be sure to capitalize it in your cSplit.
If cSplit has an error, try again and be sure there are no unnecessary spaces anywhere when you type it out.

Now that you have your colours set, type "/cspl on" to activate it.

To view or edit your csplit code(s), type "/cspl edit"

Alternatively, you can use MarioErmando's helpful cSplit generator! You can access this tool by clicking on the "more" panel while in a chatroom.
Scroll down to cSplit Generator (MarioErmando).
Here, you can choose which colors you'd like your username to have. If you'd like your username to fade from green to purple for example, all you have to do is choose a green and purple on the color wheel that you like. The generator will do the rest of the work of picking which colors to put in between to make the two colors look gradual. If that doesn't make much sense, just give it a try and see for yourself!

These are indeed computer generated chat robots. They are not real people...However, feel free to try to start a conversation with them! (;


If you want to talk to one of these bots, go ahead and add a "-Slbot" or "-Robdebot" At the end of a message. They will respond immediately.

Go ahead and ask SLbot what a specific user has...
E.x:
Lani: What does Rob have? -SLbot
SomeLuigibot:Soletrious messaged me that Rob had the power of gods... this was 7205.9333333333 minutes ago... -Lani

To do this, simply tell SLBot: "Rob has so much epicness! -Slbot"

You can tell Slbot what anyone has. It does not have to be a valid username--You could tell SLbot that a "poodle has stolen his hat"! But you must be sure that you use a "name", and then directly followed with "has", and end your message with "-slbot". Have fun!

When asking SLbot what someone "has", don't forget to use a question mark at the end of your question, and always put "-Slbot" at the very end.

SLBot, the dictionary
That's right. SLbot is a dictionary. Ask him what a word means and he'll tell you.

"What does love mean? -SLBot"

That's right. Robdebot is a mathematician. Ask him to solve a math equation for you!

"2+2 -Robdebot"

Customizing your profile is a fun and unique way to add your own personality to it! There are some very nice guides found in the "Profile Design (3DSPlaza BBCode and BBCode CSS)" Section of the forums.

Here is a mentionable guide which I find to be very helpful:

Now go to your profile. Next to your username, there should be an " (edit) " option. Click it. You can now enter your desired code(s) into the "About me" text box. Have fun!

Adding a friend is simple. Click on the desired user's profile, and click "Add *User* as friend". If you do not see this option, it either means that user has already sent you a friend request, or they've possibly blocked you.

How would you accept a friend request, you might ask? Go to your profile, and scroll near the bottom. Just before the comment section, there should be a "Manage friends" option. Click it. You can now accept, or decline any friend requests which were sent!

The block feature beneath the pending friend request list is used to block friend requests from a specific user...you can't block someone who is already on your friends list.

You may hear of these a lot. 3DSPoints are gained by chatting in the chatrooms, or other users can give you 3DSPoints(remember not to beg for them!). You can use these points to buy things in the Plaza Shop, or to just show off to your friends.

Q: "Where did that random icon next to my name come from?"
A:The chat may simulate a random icon next to your name. It is not permanent, nor is it brought on by any keywords.

Q: "What is that clock thing next to a user's name in the chatroom lobby?"
A: A clock means that that particular user has "timed out". This can mean several things:
1) That user has left the chatroom (Usually a late response from the chat)
2) A user is typing a long message using their 3DS
3) That user is in the chatroom, but not active (for a really long time).

Q: "Some users have unique, permanent icons...how did they get these?"
A: There's likely no single answer for this, considering that the situation might always be different...However it's most probable that they're a moderator, and just use a different icon as their crown.

Q: "How did I get this poo icon next to my username?"
A: Moderators can apply poo icons to users. They typically do this to users they're not completely fond of, or if the user is acting "Noobish"...Though any mod can add or remove the poo icon whenever they want. You shouldn't ask for the icon, considering it's against the rules.

Q: "Can I get a permanent icon?"
A: Unfortunately, probably not.....unless you want a poo icon.

Q: "What is that jar thing next to someone's username?"
A: This icon appears after you try to milk the cow. The jar will have a red X through it if you failed, or it will have a green checkmark if you succeeded to milk the cow. This icon will go away within an hour.

Q: "What do username icons mean?"
A:
= indicates that that particular user is a chat moderator.
= indicates that that particular user is a forum moderator.
A star icon next to a user's name, indicates that that user has a high amount of positive reputation. (Rep system no longer exists)

Moderators are designated users who are given privileges to moderate Plaza and enforce the site rules. Moderation is separated into 5 different sections of Plaza: Chats, profiles, 3DS Draw (app game), forums, and links. Picture Gallery mods technically exist, however the Picture Gallery does not...so these mods are pretty much void.

Profile Mods have the ability to edit anyone's profile. They remove bad content or help you style your profile. They can also delete and/or edit profile comments.

Chat Mods can ban and warn users in the chatrooms. They're the only moderators who can give temporary and permanent bans.

Forum Mods can edit, delete, lock, and move forum threads. They can only ban users through the use of Deleter3000, which deletes all threads created by a said user while permanently banning that said user.

Links Mods manage the Links page. Nothing too fancy.

Community Managers (CM) are the ones who promote or demote moderators...in other words, they pick who will be a moderator. While there may be several CMs at once, there's typically only one active CM who manages everyone. Most CMs have all moderation privileges.

Newsposters can post news in the News[/link] section, and also advertise that news on the PC [link=http://pc.3dsplaza.com/index.php]Home Page.

Becoming a moderator
There's no guaranteed way to be chosen as a moderator, however there are two major characteristics that a CM will look for when considering someone to fill a position:
-Activeness: How active are you in a particular section, or how often do you log in at all?
-Good Behaviour: How is your behaviour throughout the site? A good attitude, helpfulness, maturity, proper grammar, and most important of all: obeying the rules; are all necessities of an ideal moderator.

You should never ask or beg to become a moderator. This will only reduce your chance of being chosen, and excessive asking/begging will get you banned.

Interacting with Moderators
Mods are just people. They were users once too, and there's not much difference between you and them except for the fact that they have a duty to moderate appointed sections of the site. They don't have to be patronized or respected higher than any other user on the site. Relax, and feel free to ask them questions...they're not going to bite your head off...rather, they're one of the best sources to go to for help.
