I'll get around to reviewing it eventually, but it's been a rough week and school is coming up.

On topic: The game excels in all areas, I've put in over 20 hours and am no where near full completion.

The characters are really cartoony, but still have a lot of detail, especially on the clothes. Backgrounds also have a lot of detail.

Sound wise, this is the best game for 3DS. You have some of the best songs in gaming packed into one cartridge. The selection seems sparse at first, you get 5 for the 13 featured FF games, but you can unlock more to be played in special areas of Challenge Mode. Plus, you can purchase more songs in the form of DLC, $0.99 each. And there are a lot. (It is also made clear that the DLC is not essential.)

The game itself takes the Rhythm and RPG genres and mates them.

You have three types of rhythm based gameplay.
Field Music, Event Music, Battle Music.

Field-Your character is walking across the overworld(field) and if you miss notes they trip. You are rewarded with goodies if you get far.

Battle-Hit notes, damage enemies. Miss, you take damage. Kill three enemies, boss appears. Kill boss, get goodies.

Event-The least impressive, but good for FF newbies. You just hit notes as sequences from FF games play in the background.

The RPG elements(Leveling up, stats, abilities, items) don't have much of an effect at first, but when playing in the Chaos Shrine(The game's meat and potatoes) or on Ultimate difficulty, believe me, they will.

You are rewarded well, with cards that level up to different rareness to trophies, to gems that unlock more characters. You will be grinding a lot, but it is made satisfying with all the goodies.

+Local Multiplayer & StreetPass

Great game, do yourself a favor and get it.

@RedX-No, I slay monsters and cross treacherous terrain, while increasing my power.

Not interested.I don't like music games.I'd rather get KHDDD
Add me on psn to play Battlefield,DCUO,Skate or something.

I hate this mentality that "music" games are bad. Listen, the music ties into actual gameplay, and the RPG elements really add to it.

I'm just saying.Rhythm games are not my thing.

I regret getting KHDDD it's horrible, the moves variety is very limited (Kind of, if you're new to the series like myself, they throw you in where the last one left off, and I don't even know what I'm doing. The storyline is completely bogus and the combat is O.K. I guess. But what really pisses me off hardcore is drop mode, right when you're about to get to something good, BAM, all of the sudden Sora falls asleep and I become Riku . This TheatreRythm game seems worth your money. Don't buy KHDDD if you've never played a KH game before, I'm about to return it.

You're telling me some rythm game is better than a packed RPG?

It's mostly just drama surrounding Riku What am I, some 50 year old who watches Soap-Operas, I mean seriously, next time, I WILL judge a game by it's title.

Theatrhythm is pretty friendly to FF newbies like myself, the EMS songs give you a feel for their respective game, plus the Collecta Cards have info about characters and enemies.
pikarceus (2012-08-12 03:56:59)
@Ash-Theatrhythm IS packed. Very content heavy game, especially once you start unlocking Dark Notes.
