Aaron was struck in the back by a kunai, which disintegrated upon impact, and plummeted to the ground below. He hit the concrete and the spadestick followed after.

"Ouch this can't be good," Aaron said rising. He dusted himself off.
"SHOW YOURSELF!" He shouted while looking around. He was in the middle of an empty street.

"The only place to hide would be in the shadows..." Aaron whispered to himself, "Or maybe..."
He activated his greater sense...

"Behind you."
*meanwhile*

Richard zipped through the city. Lightning was honestly pretty cool, and he was fairly sure that his powers were gonna grow.

BOOM

Nighttime onlookers were shocked that lightning had broke sound, as he changed direction sharply.

He met with Din, who was on her way there. The two stopped and began to talk.

"It's Aaron." Din said, "He's brawling with someone-"
"I know Aaron, and that's not one of his powers!" Richard said.
"That means he probably got hit..."

"That doesn't matter," Din said informingly, "We need to stop this before the police get involved."

*BOOM*

[back to the fight]

Smoke trailed from Aaron as he staggered towards the spadestick and collapsed next to it. It reverted into a lacrosse stick.

"You cannot defeat... the Reactor!"

Reactor's hands had glowing green orbs of energy. He wore a hazmat suit that was missing it's mask, and his head was glowing brightly green. He held his hands out and shot a beam of energy at Aaron, who couldn't react in time. He clenched his spadestick and was blasted away.

"Really, Spadeguy?" He shouted, "Where's your partner in crime eh? Validate was it?"

He shot at Aaron again, blasting him through a brick wall.

"Too easy..." Reactor said.

Just as he was walking away, he was hit in the back by a glowing green slime that stuck to his back.
He turned around to see Spadeguy (Aaron) smiling, bouncing a glowing white ball.

"If you think it's getting easy," Aaron said putting the orb into the netting of his lacrosse stick, "Turn up the difficulty."

He hurled the orb, and it turned into a green ball of slime. The slime on the back of Reactor exploded, hurling him into the other ball of slime. He skipped along the ground, and slid to a stop at the feet of Aaron.

"...but you should probably quit..."

Aaron walked away, and turned back.

*BOOM*

"Better."

As the smoke from the explosion cleared, Aaron smiled.
"I knew it." He said coolly, "You guys aren't strong enough to win you know... not against us..."
"What do you mean you guys, and us?" Reactor said. The smoke cloud darted towards Aaron, but was struck by lightning.

"Nice save Valiant." Aaron said happily.
"Twas nothing," Richard said in character, "But these are not your enemies."

The smoke formed into a man wearing a ninja outfit. He held out his hand, and a dagger formed out of smoke.

"Shade..." the ninja said, "...at your service..."

Aaron laughed.

"OH! Your guys are anti-heroes!" Aaron said, "Were on the same side then!"

Reactor smiled, "Yeah, I had to test your ability somehow. Shade and I do nighttime patrols, because it suits us a little bit more."

"Okay then guys, just follow me."

They all looked upwards to see Din perched on a lightpost.

"We might as well go break in the new HQ. Try to keep up Reactor." She said chuckling.

They all made off in their own special ways, with Reactor flying, Valiant as lightning, Shade was a smoke cloud, Din jumping along rooftops and using her Disimval as a grappling tool, and Aaron on his spadestick, which was a hoverboard.

They made their way to a platform floating in midair, and Din sprang off of a tall building and landed on it. The rest followed suit.

"Okay then, everybody stay grounded." Din warned.

Aaron's feet were suddenly stuck to the platform. He noticed the others wriggling, and the platform began to descend. Soon they were underground and a metallic seal formed overhead.

"Home sweet home."

Friendly Competition!

[The next day after school]

Aaron, Devlin, and Richard were walking home from a long day in school. Their conversations were never really that serious. Today the conversation went from gaming systems, to games, and eventually to superheroes.

"Valiant is lightning! You can't beat that!" Richard began, "Besides, he hasn't even used his shield in public yet!"
"So!" Aaron began, "Spadeguy is obviously better. He's got a cool weapon! Well not cooler than Din's..."
Devlin laughed, "It only works with girls you know. If a guy uses it with the intention to harm... bad things happen..."

The conversation went on and on and eventually the 3 parted ways. Aaron sprinted into his house, and went to Maria.
"Any news yet?" He said, "I mean from the competition?"
"Yes, actually there's been a series of odd occurences. Some other competition is occuring, and places all over the world have been interrupted. A challenge has been issued for a group to solve some mystery and recieve power beyond imagination." She said informingly, "But that's all I know."
"Well... oh wait, I gotta patrol"
Aaron sprinted towards the door.

Maria: Don't you have homework!?
Aaron: B-but...
*silence*
Both: *laughter*
Aaron: Nice one Maria! I'm out!

Aaron left his apartment building and ran into the alley next to it. He held his hand out, and the spadestick appeared out of thin air, and soon enough his outfit and tattoo changed. He wasn't Aaron...

He was Spadeguy!

Aaron threw his spadestick and it turned into a hoverboard, halting itself in midair, then floated back to him. He took a step on, and then burst off.

[Later on]

"Okay guys, listen up." Din said, "Today,we're gonna open up this place. Now, the entire building will just rise from underneath the ground, and it's huge. This will be a hero HQ. We'll be open to policemen, firefighters, even the military, but we'll all be separated. Most importantly," She said while snapping at Aaron, who had been eyeing her Disimval which was wrapped around her waist, "This place will be secure. We'll need to elect a leader, so we'll use the training facility to see what we can-"

WARNING, MAJOR CRIME BEING COMMITTED IN DARKHAVEN, NEOTERRA

Before Din could continue, Aaron and Shade darted out of the room, Aaron using his spadestick as a jetpack, and Shade as smoke. Din quickly used a remote to open the hatch, and they made their way to the problem.

[Later]

Overhead the crime, they could see the scene. A superpowered brawl was underway. Aaron changed his spadestick back into a lacrosse stick and Shade (in smoke form) surrounded him. When Aaron landed, in a could of smoke, which turned back into the ninja warrior Shade.

Two people were fighting, both were men who seemed focused on knocking the other out. The first had a pair of gauntlets glowing with arcane patterns. He had a blue shirt, with black jeans. The other had gauntlets with a technological circuitry pattern. He wore a helmet, and a shirt with a gear on the front.
"Spadeguy, weaken the enemy, and I can charge up a huge puff of knockout smoke." Shade said, "We don't have much time."

Din suddenly dropped in. Din was now wearing a christmas hat, and her Disimval was glowing with blue sparks. She pointed her sword at the one with the helmet, and blue lighting fired out. Din then sprinted at the other, and began to fight.

The lightning turned into Valiant, the blue armored knight, in midair. He slashed at the man, but his attack was ducked. The man calmly placed his hand on Valiants chest and emitted electricity. He stood there and laughed heartily.
"It will take more than simple sparks to wound me!" He said.
"Lightning Flurry!

He dashed back and forth both shocking and hitting the man with the flat of his sword. Suddenly a lacrosse ball nailed the man in the groin, delivering a knockout blow.

Din had already figured out her enemies powers. The gauntlets let them shoot shards of energy. She began hitting the man with her blade, only to realize he had tough skin. The man swung at her, but she tossed the sword up and ducked under the man's punch, while simultaneously cup-checking him. He collapsed, and the sword fell next to his head, effortlessly sliding through the solid concrete all the way to the handle.

"Whoo, we got 'em!" Aaron shouted.

The city of NeoTerra was buzzing with chatter, as everyone was preparing for this day for months. The Parade of Heroes!

"This isn't much of a parade..." Aaron said to Din as they were walking down the street, "There aren't even any floats!" He looked dissatisfied.
"Oh don't act so lame! It's more of a festival, and we're the floats!" Din informed.

Aaron was in costume, along with Din, because this parade was centered around heroes. The streets and buildings were decorated with confetti and streamers, and a young child gave Aaron a ribbon to put on his lacrosse stick. They just had to walk along, and wait for the day to end.

"Hey, Spadeguy!" Din said, "Isn't that Ace? Must be kinda awkward to have names so closely related. Let's go talk to him!"
Aaron stopped walking and looked at Ace, then he dashed at him. Din stared at him for a second, then laughed.
"Wait up!"

Ace caught a glimpse of Aaron running towards him, and ran off.

POV EXCHANGE: ACE!

Ace swiftly maneuvered through the crowds of people before finally stopping.

Crap, I can't lose him... there is one way though...

Ace stopped running and turned around. He held his hand out and a white orb appeared in his palm.
"New path!"

The orb shot out of his hand and hit Spadeguy directly in the chest. He collapsed, to his knees and then began glowing white.

"...what... what are you doing to..." Spadeguy said.
Ace replied calmly,
"You'll be coming with me."

Spadeguy began glowing brighter and brighter, until the light suddenly dimmed down. It was focused in his forearm. Ace heard an angry voice.

"Like hell he is..."

A red haired girl kicked Ace directly in his chest, then pulled out a sword. She swung it at his neck, but he swiftly ducked it.

"Wait!" He shouted, but to no avail, as the girl swung her sword faster and faster. Suddenly, the sword began loosening...

Ace: Is that a-
*whip*
Girl: It's a Disimval. It's actua-
Ace: Nobody cares... you must be Din.

She had a bloodthirsty look in her eyes, and she smiled psychotically, before throwing her Disimval into the air. It caught Ace's attention long enough for her to kick him in the balls. He fell to the ground, and Din began explaining the mechanics of her sword.

"I don't... I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!" Ace shouted, performing a leg sweep. He got up but was palmed in the chest by Spadeguy, who's forearm was still glowing white.

Spadeguy:FIX IT!
Ace: Wha-
Spadeguy: AAAAAAAARRRRRGH!

Spadeguy performed an underhand swing with his lacrosse stick, hitting Ace in the jaw, and sending him back into a wall. By now a large crowd was viewing, and some cheered as others booed. They were viewing the whole thing as an event for the festival.

"Could my luck get any worse?!" Ace said sarcastically, before being struck by lightning...

...over, and over, and over again...
