I have no doubts on this now.

There are two sides on this matter:
1.) The ones who are correct and know the answer is 288.

2.) The one's who say it's two.

Also, neither side is willing to change their mind.

Equations can have more than one solution, and when you mentioned functions, it means you're also talking about graphing.
It is when the x-value has two different y-values that the equation is not a function.
