Normally, a story thread comes around where people can "Participate" in a story created by the mind of another.

Sometimes, people can't think of any new characters or things to put into the story and remain stuck.

Of course, there are things that are socially acceptable, and the one's that Aren't.

There are a few types of Sign Ups, Including:

Open Story Sign Up

These normally display a story and the author says "Feel free to post if you want added!"

There are some things that you should know about this:

1. You do not have any jurisdiction over the story unless it is your own, in which manner you can deny any request as you see fit.

This basically says: this story wasn't made for you. You don't get to say "I kill everyone off in the story because I am who I am." If it is your story, keep in mind you'll get things that are blown completely out of proportion.

2. If you are free to give info, do so in the context of the story.

Some stories are about zombies, some just normal people in high school and some a fantasy land. But wouldn't it be odd if for some reason some minigun wielding guy comes through in a high school? Do not make it so that it is awkward for the writer to write the story.

3. You may not be in at the moment you put your info, do not complain.

You'd get a better introduction if you just wait instead of all of a sudden John just appeared because you just so desperately wanted to be in it.

Registry Sign Ups

These are explained shortly about the place your in and what the story is about. Authors give what they need to throw your character in and you got yourself a story.

Sometimes they do need specific information. Sometimes they just need your name. What they don't need is something that makes them frustrated.

Here are some socially acceptable things to keep in mind:

1. If the author asks specific things for info, GIVE THOSE SPECIFIC THINGS.

Most times they say: "Don't put blah blah." Or "No Blah blah blah" Or whatever they don't want. It's because they don't think it'll fit in their story and they don't feel like they should allow it.

2. Do not just post information in the actual story thread if they said to only do it in the sign up thread.

Don't go into the story and say "I want in." Because you'll most likely be told "You didn't sign up." Although, In most cases, they accept it anyways but other than that it just makes you look like an ass.

3. Giving little to no info.

My god, I barely looked at the most recent sign up and for appearances on most they were just pairs of eyes and hair. Also, if somebody says don't do this or at the least fix the mistake, do so. And some people go out on a limb to just say "Gah, Name. Obvious. You know info of person." And when the author says explain it, don't half ass it because we all just should know about it.

Plaza Sign Ups

You've seen enough late nignt talk shows to see where this goes. Utter randomness often delivered in script form (Which FluxerCry absolutely hates) that tells of a high school run by our loving pri- king... Rob. A lot of times, you see different things and you can tell what's going to happen.

Rules and blahbity whatnot:

1. If asked to join, don't give information.

Since these are normally written in scripts, they don't really explain much about the people unless it's for the story or plot purpose. Sometimes, they will ask information so the audience can get a visual of who's who.

2. Don't get fussy over the same "cast" used in stories.

"But it's so boring! It's the same people over and over!" Well shut up! It's actually difficult to remember who is who and using the same people actually saves a lot of time and possibly work lost.

3. Y U NO POST STORY?!

Somethings take time, or the author is having a tough time with inspiration.

(Continued Guide)

The wonders of an amazing story. Perfectly amazing whether in an iconic or unique way.

Right now, I'm going to cover some stuff about the actual story in the sign up. Well, the types of them at least.

And keep in mind, sometimes the author will let some things through because the plot demands it or some other excuse.

Fantasy

Oh boy, this one is often mistaken as "Anything goes 'cause magic."

Fantasy, yes it includes magic, but that doesn't mean crap can't just be there 'cause. If you're doing one of these, be specific of what you want and don't want because people giving info get confused with the topic.

Here's some tips:

1. If you are confused on what to add, you may want to ask.

2. Fantasy isn't sci-fi. Yeah. Sorry to crush your dreams.

3. Don't just not go in because it's a fantasy. Adjust to it. Make you work with it.

Zombie

There are many sub-types of this infamous story genre, including viral, alien, mutant and sometimes mental illness.

These however can be specified differingly. When you give info, if you have some ridiculous gun, like a one shot pistol, then just no.

Of course you'd want to be well prepared, kick ass and chew bubblegum, but keep in mind, this is a post-apocalyptic time. You're limited.

Also, if you're asked for qualities or abilities, don't make them completely out of context. Some people are strong enough to knock a guy out, some are smart enough to know how to do a lot. Just be reasonable.

Tips:

1. Go with real gun names if you know any, this gives people who know your information a better look of who your character is.

2. You don't get to save the world or be immune unless the plot demands it. In other words, not if the author doesn't make it in the story.

3. You get bit, you die. Don't expect the character to make it through. They just got bit by a puss bag filled with the deadly virus they are trying to avoid. Jeez. But only if plot demands it...

High School

100% of the time if you're a healthy and not dead human being, you'll go to high school one day. These ones may be boring from time to time, but it's nothing without drama. Which somehow worms it's way through.

These ones can be tricky because they don't allow a lot. Unless you mesh it with another genre. In that case, follow the secondary genre tips.

Tipolas:

1. You may need to think when putting people in relationships. Those people can get upset.

2. Just quickly regarding romance and whatnot, don't be afraid of homosexual romances.

"But the bible forbids it. The bible forbids it! THE BIBLE SAYS NO! LAVITICUS 18:22!"

Shut up. In someone else's religion, you're going to their hell for discriminating others. Also, you're encroaching on the right to be creative.

3. Speaking of which, don't be too creative. Okay? We don't want one of AntiChrist's thirsty thursdays getting through. Nor a creepypasta for that matter.

Adventure!

Yeah....

These ones depict a goal or quest for the protagonists to accomplish, often including an antagonist as well.

These are often crushed so tightly into a fantasy genre or otherwise. You may not even think twice about it when you read or write it.

Dos Tips Doh:

1. Very, very much will you get the rag tag team of whatnot and blahdity-get-to-the-point-already-Sherlock. Make these things interesting. More people will like an original story unstead of "QUEST FOR THE GENERIC ARTIFACT OF GENERICISM!"

2. In theaters now. No, not really. Some parts take time, you want this to be good remember?

During the Registry Sign Up test I concluded that over half of the people who gave info actually gave me what I wanted.

So I suggest that you wait for a rough double of entries if you create a sign up.
