Chapter One Nyx- Nyx is a Drow, A sub-race of elves that live underground. The Drow's, like elves, can only die in battle, they are immortal somewhat, they cannot die of disease or old age. One thing that makes the Drow special however, is the fact that they get stronger from people's and especially their own despair, this is why Nyx is so strong. The Drow's are a matriarchary, a type of society where women are dominant, men like Nyx are seen as sexual slaves and workers. Nyx was married off as a one of his wives many husbands at a young age, he got her pregnant and she had a child, Arya, when he was Twenty years old. Soon after, the High Elves and the Drow went to war, Nyx was a great warrior, fighting to protect his daughter Arya, but he killed the Prince in battle, pissing off the king essentially. The king crucified Nyx to a pole during the final battle of the war. He forced Nyx to watch as all of his people died. The high elves slaughtered women and children, they killed Nyx's daughter and desecrated her corpse in front of them, the king rode away. The ten guards keeping Nyx held there after the battle ended didn't know of his power to grow stronger with despair, and with his entire family, his race, gone, he had plenty of it, he slaughtered the lot of them and ran, gathering power to avenge his fallen race.
