SadPanda, you should bring over as many SocialNeko users as you can, because this website is starting to become inactive.

AlexAlmighty (2016-11-30 09:40:57)The main reason Plaza is slowly dying off is because of the lack of users who still use the internet on their DS systems. Most users are on a much newer and modern device like a smartphone or PC. Which follows the "Facebook / Instagram" age.
Let's face it. Mark Zuckerberg has won us over.
The main thing 3DSPlaza did in 2011 - 2012 that made people come to it was it brought out the true power of the poor 3DS / DSi browsers. It really pushed the limits. Ordinarily your DS browser would suck, but 3DSPlaza made it fun. Which is why people came to it.
Nowadays, people don't ask you for your 3DSPlaza. Ask 5 people from your school what's their Plaza username, and they'll look at you like you just came from 1985.
I do admit though, it'd be nice to see this site get active again.

@AlexAlmighty He hasn't completely won everyone over. Some mind their privacy and so join alternatives that respect that in their distinctive ways like being hosted in countries that really respects free speech and privacy.
Successful alternatives have something special about them that makes them stand out from each other.
Unfortunately, the kiddy ones are typically the more dumbed down and basic copies. Nothing special. I'm not saying that's always the case but that is the case most of the time.
You might consider 3DSPlaza as a kiddy site and rightfully so. However, there are some things on Plaza that have been done in such a way that it makes it more than just basic (which is a good thing). There's still bad practices but that's just because it hasn't been looked at for such a long time and the entire site is based off of H4D. There's a lot to say for it so I will stop right there.
Too much to say atm. Maybe I'll update this later..

Yes. I agree. For example, the Webkit in the original 3DS's browser is weak, so there isn't much you can do. 3DSPlaza brought out the potential of that browser. And of course, it being a Nintendo fan based website, and it having the users who liked similar stuff on it, this is what mostly attracted people to the site. One tap of the browser icon and you can chat with gamers like you, that's what I liked about it back then.
For one to say it's a kiddy site, it would depend on who says it, because users range from all ages here. And users range from a bunch of different devices aswell. Some use Smartphones, others use a PC or Tablet. The Nintendo 3DS isn't getting old, but it's been going for a while now. And most people I know who live near me today tend to use their systems for the gaming, and they don't usually open the internet browser. That research alone makes me think that might be why Plaza is dying. Most of the userbase were on a 3DS browser.
Heck, some even still use a DSi, but I don't think there's alot of those left here.
What happened to Jolly Jokes, anyways? Did the files get deleted?
