Are you a generally happy person?

I am, but it doesn't seem like that many people are the same. The better I become at being happy, the more it seems like the things people get stressed about aren't that big of a deal. I'm not claiming to be superior to everyone, but I can't help but think that I'm one of the only people living the "correct" way. By choosing to be happy all the time, no matter the circumstances, you will change every aspect of your life for the better.

Resilience is one of the most important qualities you could possibly build in yourself, because with that, you will find that it becomes easier to adopt any positive trait that you see necessary to complete yourself. That is true for EVERY PERSON. I know that sounds like absolute balony to most people, but what are your other alternatives? How else are you going to make your life the way you want it? By waiting until you have everything you think you need? Are you not going to be happy until you have that new videogame, that girl/boyfriend, or finally getting revenge on the people who wronged you, or getting closure? When you do get that thing, are you really going to be content, let alone happy, or is another problem going to appear in your life that makes you feel like you have to chase after yet another thing to make you finally happy?

To help you answer that question, just remember all the times that you've repeated this cycle. There are no alternatives. You have to keep chosing to be happy. That is the only way.

Do you have abusive parents? Choose to be happy anyway. Does it make sense for you to be happy in that situation? No. Obviously, it doesn't. Does it improve your life to choose to be happy? Yes.

So what is the logical thing to do? You can't save yourself by being angry and/or sad. The only way to save yourself is to choose to be happy. Find excuses to be happy. Create excuses to be happy. Look forward to the little things. Be happy in the moment, rather than wait for that time in the future when you think you will temporarily be happy (e.g. I can't wait until the weekend. I will be unhappy until then).

Do you think choosing to be happy makes you less intelligent? Get off your high horse. That's just your angsty edgy cynical voice talking. The one that helps you be perceived as "intelligent" by the internet.

Am I saying not to be unhappy about the awful things that go on in the universe? No, and yes. It is not healthy to be thinking about those things constantly. You can not contribute to changing those things if you make yourself weak.

There are also situations (seeing someone die before your eyes, for example) where it is perfectly necessary to grieve and be upset. Still, you must strengthen your ability to be resilient for when those times come, and be able to not let those things take control of your life.

The only reason I'm telling you this, is because it'd be morally reprehensible for me not to, in my opinion. Also, I have the personal reason of wanting you guys to be happy as well. Although we're just internet buddies, we've been around for roughly five years by now.

Who else is a happy person? Why or why not?

No.

Very quiet and without my Fiancée immediately here, so I generally am not terribly happy IRL, even with the recent blessings in my life. I'm getting on-track, tho.

Online, some less fag removed my first story, and hasn't admitted to it yet. That pissed me off to no end, but generally, I try to maintain a cheerful disposition online. I'm not very good at it, tho, surely.

I didn't read everything, but yeah, I'm generally happy. I try to remain happy for similar reasons as yours, but don't let yourself be so hardened that the only emotion you can feel is happiness.

Didn't read that wall of text. Just answered the topic title. Yes, I am.
Ayy Lmao.

I'm generally a happy person. I'm not happy all the time but I'm very easy to cheer up if you're the right person. My source of motivation is at least I don't live in the Kenyan slums.

BTW, nice wall of text (no sarcasm).

I am the lizard king, I can do anything.

Forcing yourself to be happy all the time isn't healthy.
Nemesis (2016-03-18 00:06:16)
It's not by force. It's choosing to have a positive outlook rather than a negative one. It's impossible to be happy every second of your life. But if you have the opportunity to be happy, take it. I think that's what he's trying to say.

I did too but when he started talking about resilience I had doubts.
AntiChrist (2016-03-18 00:18:10)
^^ Well said. Although, I think it is possible to reach a point where you are happy every second of your life. That would be thinking yourself into some type of psychosis though, and I would advise against that. But hey, if that's what anyone wants to do, then go for it.

^^^^^^^^^^ You must be talking about me.

Answering this thread...
Kind of. I don't often worry about things unless they're to do with things I could potentially be / get into, are involved with (exception is exams) or if it affects someone I know of.
I don't really experience exciting things when it comes to going out as that's close to rare and most of the time it turns out to be something not worth looking forward to. So I'm more of neutral.

Bro, I'm pretty happy honestly. Of course life has its ups and downs but no matter what, I try not to regret anything because there's no point to that. I choose to look at any experience as something to progress myself as a person, regardless of what it is, and more recently I try to look at even the simplest things that happen to me very carefully, because often everything and anything have a certain depth to it that is overlooked.

Mmmm, depends.

I can't CHOOSE to be happy, at least when I do it's because I know I'm gonna slit someone's throat. But that's if I get extremely mad.
Sometimes I can't help but frown at all, and it's again only in severe situations I unintentionally frown. I can't hide it either.
oof
