As many of you know already, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has passed away due to cancer.

Now that Iwata will no longer be in charge of the company, who will? Nintendo Directs will never be the same without him, and the Iwata Asks series has also ended.

So let's all discuss on who should be the successor.

I would nominate Sakurai for obvious reasons (he's still young and his ideas are much more often good than not), but since he's previously discussed his disgust on his responsibilities now, I can't imagine he'd handle the stress of running such a huge and important company as Nintendo.

I don't know who should take over, but I'd like to see them take things that Nintendo isn't, more seriously. Make more dark entries in the Zelda franchise, do something with underused franchises (notably Earthbound and F-Zero at this point), go full steam ahead on the development of the two new Metroid games supposedly in development for 3DS and Wii U, but (and perhaps most important) also compete with other consoles specswise. Have the NX blow the competition out of the water.

I'm not saying that Iwata has been holding the company back, by any means, but Nintendo needs to realise their former strategies are growing stagnant for most gamers, and now's as good a time as any to do what they need to so they can stay in successful business the next several decades.

Right now, Nintendo is a ship without a captain. Nintendo is going nowhere at this point. If they had a back up (which they should've have) Nintendo would already have someone in charge as soon as Iwata died, but they don't.

Nintendo has no president or a CEO, that's my point. No one is controlling Nintendo.

Yeah, Miyamoto and Takeda are in charge, but they aren't the same level as a president or CEO.
