What do you think of this? Will gaming ever be saved? I never really played E.T., my friends said it sucked. I was thinking of buying the other Atari systems, but looking at this, I'm deciding not to.

Because PS4/Xbox game makers just try and do "Lets make these nice realistic 4K graphics yeah lets not care about story at all"

Story isn't necessary to a good game. Shadow of the Colossus and Ico are two of the most hailed cult classics of the PS2 and offered no story, and most Mario Games are so simplistic in storytelling it might as well not have one. Story can more than easily be compensated by the game's mechanics if the design is solid enough. The inverse is also true, A good enough story can cover any potholes in the game's design, at least art-wise and mechanics-wise.

The issue is that gaming has fallen into the trap of thinking that story can completely cover a very

ty, broken game, while also failing to have any decent writers; The best writers in gaming were rejected from books and movies, which is telling, as it's why they're writing for games.

The fact of the matter is the Indie game industry is currently crashing, the mobile game industry will crash very soon, the AAA industry will go through a period of severe decay before fixing itself, and the PC gaming market, the only one that matters, will keep trucking on.
