I just want to get a good understanding to whether or not the users actually 'like' the current moderators.

Just answer with a yes or no. If no, be specific and explain why? If you're uncomfortable with saying it in public, feel free to PM me your response.

Take into account what you are dealing with here. You're asking for opinions, and naturally, people with strong negative opinions are more inclined to respond. That's simply the nature of the response to surveys. If you are pleased with something, more often than not you will speak nothing of it. Those displeased, however, tend to be much more vocal. Such is the case here. When you receive about 5 or 10 responses and they all turn out to be negative, and this will happen, don't be swayed by the misleading information. An outcome like this would be far from being statistically significant, given that our population is much larger than a measly 10 people and once again taking into account what type of responses you're attracting (Hint: not "I am pleased" responses).

Don't let vocal minorities push you around because they pretend to be the majority.

It doesn't really matter if users like the mods or not...users probably aren't going to like people who tell them not to do things, ban them, and close/delete their threads.

All that matters is if the moderators are doing their duty properly and have a good attitude, which can only be decided by reviewing the evidence yourself.

To answer whether or not I think the mods (not including myself because, bias) are doing their duty properly......Yeah, I honestly think the current staff we have now are about as good as we can get...which might be sad to say...but nonethelss, Plaza isn't falling apart.

Yes. It's fine.

It's not that I dislike them, I'm just not satisfied with their work.

If David thinks moderating is all fun and games then I'm not entirely sure why he's so passionate about Carlos (or anyone else for that matter) being a bad/good mod. Hmmm.

It doesn't matter how popular the site is or who the site is for, the moderation matters....obviously, because everyone loses their crap over mod drama.

It doesn't matter all that much to me personally, however for the sake of everyone else, and the prosperity of the site, I care enough to make such statements. I want to see the site prosper, I want to see the "general public" content (because why not? This community is fun and I want it to last)...and it's not going to be that way if the moderation is truly bad. That's not saying to listen to user's every wish, but rather making decisions that would best improve the community as a whole.

@Lani is the wise one here.

It's because Carlos sent Lani nudes.

Carlos isn't allowed to use the D3000 to moderate the chats, Mega. This has already been settled...Drake said he would talk/has talked to Carlos about it. If he's threatening to use it again in such a manner then it likely will lead to demotion.

Not to put words into anyone's mouth, but last we talked about it I recall SL admitting that the whole "Carlos using the D3000 to stop inappropriate misconduct in the chats" was a tricky situation, and I don't remember him ever giving a final word. Everyone there at the time seemed content with Drake telling Carlos not to use the D3000 in that situation anymore, and it all ended there.

I think the fact that you wanted Carlos demoted because he stopped you from sharing NSFW content says alot about how much you don't care about the well being of the site's prosperity, and rather you just want to get away with breaking the rules in the middle of the night when no other mods are on...misuse of the D3000 is your only fuel to get him demoted, because otherwise he's a decent mod.

Nonetheless, you don't have to worry about Carlos being a threat because it's clear and official now that he shouldn't be using the D3000 for any violations other than spam.

I think the current line of moderators is perfectly fine. But there will be that one guy who comes on and feels all butthurt about a moderator.
carlos11 (2015-05-13 23:14:43)
Doesn't it ring any bells that people have to resort to lying to push for my demotion? It means they don't have any good reasons so they need to make things up.

Here's things you need to know about my use of the D3000:

*The bans were justified.
*The recipients of the bans had no notable forum posts.
*Over the course of the past year, no mod has ever objected to my banning anyone. When I announced that I had banned someone, the staff nodded and moved along. When I asked for someone to unban someone I'd ban, people gladly offered me a hand.

If the action is a serious offense to the rules, I will act. That is my responsibility. If you are not currently a moderator, you stance on the matter is insignificant for you are uneducated on the subject at hand.

Mega, tell the real reason you want me demoted. Tell everyone that you're racist and like to break the rules. Why don't you?

The obvious solution is to accept that I have the authority to do as I please.

I've already given reasons as to why my use of the D3000 is not abuse. What you're doing is going in circles and making a huge deal out of nothing. You're wrong, now be quiet.

Except the D3000 doesn't say it's for spam. It says, and I copy: "CAUTION THIS PAGE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS - NEVER USE IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND"

Beneath that, it says and I copy: "Use wisely. It will be logged. Abusers will be banned and de-modded"

That's it, nothing more nothing less. I'm not sure where you got the Permanent IP ban from...not even SL's thread says anything more.

It's purpose is to clean up spam and ban spammers....abuse of the tool is never specified, but it can be assumed that abusing it would be using it to delete a whole bunch of threads that were never spam in the first place, etc.
The argument whether Carlos' use of the tool is abuse or not is what SL never had a final word on....it was then cleared up, and as to my understanding, Carlos was told not to use the D3000 for chat violations in the future (meaning despite having done it in the past, he's currently not in threat of demotion unless he does it again). But then, if the chat user has absolutely no forum posts whatsoever, there is no issue with using the D3000, since SL's only beef with using it was the loss of forum content.

In other words, the tool is only abused when forum content is deleted that wasn't legitimately delete worthy. But the likelyhood of a user not having any forum posts whatsoever is highly unlikely to begin with, so it's better not to use it at all.

Edit:
Also, just to put out there what I know of the situation:
In the chats, I proposed that Carlos shouldn't be demoted for what he did, but he shouldn't do it again. A few other users supported that and SL seemed content with it, so Drake said something along the lines that he would PM Carlos (therefore I made the assumption that he told Carlos not to use the D3000 to ban chat violators, idk 100% whether he did, or if that's what he told him)

Because it isn't abuse. There is nothing being abused. When I spoke to Drake, literally the only thing he said was that I should not do it again only because you and the Leviathans wouldn't stop whining. Otherwise, I'm basically good. The only problem with what I'm doing is that it makes people whine too much. Drake, or anyone for that matter, never said I couldn't use the D3000 the way I do. It's just something that was overlooked and is not specified. In the end, I'm only moderating for the good of the community. Your only good claim is that I allegedly don't have the authority. Well then by all means, someone give me the authority so we can be done with this.

Lani, you of all people should know that there is great divide between the users of this website. There are primarily three groups: Chat users, forum users, and profile users. Believe me when I tell you that there are many users, a great majority, that have no posts on these forums whatsoever. Also, posts are only significant if they are creators of recent threads, or iconic/important threads. For example, if there is bump spam of old 2014 threads, I've been advised to just delete those threads rather than move them to The Void which is what I used to do to bumped threads because I used to think they were important. They aren't important. Also, check my other post. Everything is covered regarding my use of the D3000. There's nothing against me.
