Lani (2015-05-12 15:00:13)There are actually legal requirements that prevent this site from having "mature" content, which is why the rules are so strict to begin with...there would have to be some sort of lock on the "mature chatroom\forum" that only grants acess to 13 or 18+ year olds (the age would depend on exactly how mature the content is allowed to be), in which case users would have to either sign up with a birthdate, or confirm their age some other way.
I really don't think the freedom to be openly inappropriate is going to enhance your experince on this site very much. Plaza doesn't need the kind of community that can only be amused by crude entertainment...there are countless other sites that allow that. There have been several "rule free chatroom/forum!" requests, but neither Rob nor SL have been very open to the idea.
Out of all the features on Plaza that could be added/updated, a mature section of the site is one the last things we need.

Most of plaza is very immature and it's one of the reasons I stray away from most of it and only pop up only once in a while. Back in 2011-2012 I would come here alot but over the years I had alot of experience with having to deal with all of it. I'm almost certain others may feel the same way.
But I geuss you're right. This place really does not need a mature demographic huh?

I feel like something like this will help spread the horizons of 3DS Plaza. I know the site is meant to be family freindly, but honestly some of us older users deserve more freedom. A system like this can have some negative affects sure, but I have some measures that may help if a Mature chatroom or Mature Misc forum section was added.
You know the email system we have on plaza? Make these only for those who have registered by email to enter these area's. These places should have special rules in place that defend more important problems than swearing. Nothing will be censored, complete freedom of speech will take over. But if someone is targeting another user with any negative stigma or slur they should be punished accordingly. This is to ensure mature debate and discussion can move smoothly without anyone getting too personal.
Something like this can help people feel more open and free. Allowing this place to last even longer than it already has, and personally in this day and age it is very hard to offend people with a moderate grasp of reality.
