In light of recent events which have given rise to claims of alleged unnecessary deletion of threads on my behalf, I have resolved to address the situation in a formal public announcement, the goal of which is to express my condolences for any harm I may have caused.
In case you have not yet been made aware of the events that led to this, it was the deletion of Leviathan's most recent thread (which he reposted). In retrospect, I admit that the course of action which I opted for was not the ideal one, and there was in fact an alternative. Rather than deleting the entire thread, I could have removed the problematic parts of the thread and changed the title.
(The title was something along the lines of "how to make me say anything" and in the original thread there was a part which encouraged the reader to use it to harass him.)
I had objective reasons to justify my decision (such as the thread not meeting my criteria to remain open. i.e. it could not generate a discussion, since it was a guide, it was partially personal, and it incited negative feedback), however, subjective reasons also factored in.
On the night the aforementioned events occurred, I witnessed Leviathan ridiculing user Dave in the chatroom. When I came across his thread, I did not want to inspect it thoroughly. Consequently, what caught my attention were the title and the part that was not about the guide.
Although perhaps it may seem hard to believe, what ultimately had the greatest impact on my decision is that I wished to spare Leviathan of the hateful comments he would surely receive. This may sound like a contradiction of what I just said, but read on.
I strongly dislike conflict, and I endeavor to avoid it all cost. It sounded like Leviathan did not mind negative attention. Regardless, I did not feel I should allow other users to attack him if I can help. If the cost is to instead take the hate myself, I willl glady accept this as my punishment.
I now ask for your forgiveness.
