The advice that gets drilled into your head are often told by parents or other who care about you. Do they tell you this because they expect you to win some popularity contest? Actually, they just want you to be successful. Making good first impressions is going to give you advantages, weather you think it is fair or not.
If you don't want first impressions to cause such fast judgement, then you're going to have a rough time. Your opinion on yourself influences people so little.
All of that is why you should make good first impressions, even if you think it's stupid.

During first impressions, a lot of assumptions are made about the person you meet in your mind and you don't even know it. It's like a subconsious thing. That's basically what the article is saying at the beginning.
Since brown eyes co exist with another certain facial feature (I've never even noticed this) people are likely to see then as more "dominant".
People who make eye contact during the start of a conversation are often assumed to be intelligent. However, holding eye contact and not letting go will actually result in you lookinf like a phsycopath to the other person.
Those with piercings or tattoos, surprisingly during first impressions are though to be less intelligent. This surpsurprises me because all my life I've assumed that people with piercings that are older than me are more intelligent for some reason.
Anyway, those who talk slow are seen as untrustworthy and a couple other things in the article. Just read it.
What pisses me off is the comment section.
"Nuu!!! I am not less intelligent for having tattoo! This article is wrong!"
And that comment gets the most likes.... Wtf? The article does not say that it determines intelligence at all. This is about what goes on in the minds of those who first meet people. Also, it says "this is LIKELY to happen". Not "this is how it works every single time"
It amazes me how closed minded people can suddenly be the second they think they are being insulted.

Anyway, this article can really help you people out there who WANT to look intelligent or some certain way. Is your reputation not correct or the same as your actual personality? Want to fix that? This can help you out to an extent, especially is you want your words to be taken seriously.
