What mega said. Adding on to that, we have to consider who the thread appeals to. There are a lot more MLP fans here than Bolbi worshippers, so a thread about MLP will have a larger audience and more posters than a Bolbi thread. A thread about a current event may be very popular when it's created, but after a few weeks, the interest from users will decline because the news is outdated. *cough*jasonthreads*cough* That's barely skimming the surface of the pool of variables that lead to certain threads being more successful than others.
