Don't you hate it when you go in restaurants, and the restaurant is full of [insert race here] people, and they're just staring at you when you open the door because you're [insert a different race than them] and not [insert race they are]?

I swear, whenever my mother takes me to a Chinese/Thai restaurant (haven't tried Japanese food), it's full of Asians just staring at the white people. Don't get me wrong, I love (gluten free) orange chicken, but not when so many people are staring at you like you're a creature eating weirdly.

So discuss.

Whenever I go to a Thai restaurant run by Thai people, it's full of different races of people drinking wine. I think New Yorkers are more cultured gastronomically.

Then again, my local Thai restaurant is Zagat rated.

If Asians are eating in an Asian restaurant, that's usually and indicator that the food is authentic...otherwise they'd make their own food at home. (Tru fax)

I honestly wouldn't feel awkward walking into a restaurant full of another race that stare at me....if they're in America--a primarily white/black country but over all a mixed society-- they should already be accustomed to people of another race. On the other hand, if I were to go to China and walk into a restaurant there and be stared at, that's different.
