I think you have it all wrong Phoeniawn, he's/she's asking for help with programming so the other forum topics doesn't really matter. Now to actually do it, I've never done it before but you'd probably have to check what the user enters and check where they chose the colors to be and what colors exactly, then update the sql table accordingly.

I believe you would have to use either chop() or explode() to split the username into parts of the array.

alright so now I know that str_split is the right function but how do I enable the users to split their names themselves instead of the function doing it for them?
