The men had come looking for gold. Beckwourth, however , had something else on his mind. He was looking for an opening through the mountains so that people would not have to climb the mountains to get to the other side . (Left) James Beckwourth helps a fallen friend.

moving on to the next explorer : Esteban Dorantes Early American Explorer born cicra 1500 died cicra 1539 . It was February 1527.Five big ships waited at a seaport in Spain. Hundreds of people were on board. There were soldiers, settlers,and people looking for adventure. They were sailing to the new land called America. King Fedinand was sending them there to explore the territory called Florida. Would they find riches ?Or Gold and Silver? Would they find danger ?No one knew.
