Every once in a while I come across a forum post or two with work that doesn't correlate with the user and seems strangely out of place. By work I mean artwork, poems, and stories. I reverse search it on Google, and voila, results with the same piece of work come up. I look through the results, see that it's clearly not the same poster as OP, and request that the thread be closed.
You may think that I'm just being critical, but Plaza is a great place to show off user generated content. When someone claims to have created something that is not theirs and it goes unnoticed, it puts the users who actually generate their own content in the shadows.
Not to mention disrespecting the original creator of the stolen work.

Moderators should take plagiarism more seriously, and even administer a short ban for it.
This will encourage more
original user-created content.

Sounds gud2me.

How long of a ban should be given to the plagiarizer?

Lol, as if that's going to actually stop people.

Nutsy (2014-10-12 15:30:09)
A standard 2 day ban. Longer if they continue.
Mephistopheles (2014-10-12 15:30:16)
2-3 days.
Not that long, just enough to make them think "Hey I really shouldn't do this again because they'll know." Plagiarism is a crime, banning them and teaching them what it is will just be a learning experience for them.
Nutsy (2014-10-12 15:32:08)
These people are so active today.
Dave (2014-10-12 15:34:07)
Bullying is also illegal (In America) but people still do.
Banning them is unnecessary. You can just calm them out on it like how people do to people who use fake images. Plaza is already a hellhole, lol. Lets focus on more serious things than get to crap like this.

@Dave
Plagiarism is much more severe in my opinion.
While bullying probably won't get you arrested, plagiarism can get your suspended from school, kicked out of a college, and fired from a job, and arrested. Yeah bullying can do all of these things, but it hardly ever does.

@mega
If you could copy this thread or make something similar, titling it accordingly, I think you should sticky it in the art forum, poetry, and story/creepypasta one.
Dave (2014-10-12 15:41:05)
Lol, they are only kids, you can just call them out on it. All that crap in the future (jobs, and so on) isn't what they really care about atm.
Mephistopheles (2014-10-12 16:07:05)
@Dave
The thing is, the original creators are the ones who care about their work and are the ones being effected the most.

What if you wrote a really good story or drew a really nice drawing. How would you feel if some little punk said it was his and got compliments on it when YOU were the one who created it?
Jason2k14 (2014-10-12 16:32:11)
I remember when there were hundreds of High School stories in the Story Forum.

By now, if there was a rule stating no plagiarizing, only 1 original creator would keep up the series, while the rest would rage, and complain about the original creator "stealing their" work.

Me like +1

1. I can't draw so I really wouldn't care.

2. I am pretty bad ass with stories.

I would call them out of it or try to ask them why they copied it but then again I'd be flatter because that means that they liked it.
carlos11 (2014-10-12 17:25:02)
No, a ban is not necessary. Simply not allowing the plagiarist's thread to exist or stay open is enough.

Hey, remember that girl that used to post drawings that weren't hers in every single one of her comments but they weren't actually hers?
Language is a tool for efficient communication. The internet is a tool for fast communication. Do not defy both intents by posting incoherent writing.
Jason2k14 (2014-10-12 17:42:26)
Maybe if the user plagiarizes more than once after being warned, and them being disobedient, maybe then they get a ban?
