Jason2k14 (2014-09-15 00:20:50)I'd prefer the original as long as the name's not too long, nor too original or boring.
Like Jason.
Or Zack.
Or Joshua.

SPCOxion (2014-09-15 01:53:17)While my grandmother was still healthy enough to visit me, she would tell me stories about one of her relatives who had a bone to pick about this topic.
If she wanted to call her kid "Bob", then she wouldn't name him "Robert", she would just name him "Bob".
As for me, no, not really. Benjamin is a mouthful, and I'm glad people don't call me by it.
In real life I have been given more nicknames than any of you ever will comvined. I have the worst lucky ever when it comes to getting nicknames.
Freshman year of high school, these two big guys that looked like senior football players even though they were in my grade pretty much started worshipping me and watching everything I do just because I made them laugh a few times. One day I was stretching and the two guys were freaking out about how flexible I was. Suddenly one of them said
"I'm gonna call you SirMasterFlex from now on."
They say the whole name like it's one word. SirMasterFlex. They freaking call me that in public. One GOOD thing about the nickname is that the black people at my school think I'm really strong now even though I'm a toothpick.
Tl dr: I'm flexible, so a couple of dudes call me "sirmasterflex"
Nutsy (2014-09-16 10:52:25)This girl in art class started calling me Seanathon. (Like Jonathon) I call her Jambalaya.
I get called Kaiba at church. It started with my friend that I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh with then it escalated further. They should stop.
My name in Spanish class is Alfonso.

What are your thoughts when parents give their child a name such as "Robert" or "Elizabeth", just to end up calling them "Bob" or "Lizzy" all the time?
Do you prefer the original name or the nickname?
And if you have one of these sorts of names, how do you introduce yourself?
Even if it's just shortened:
Josh < Joshua
Ally < Alissa
Do you like it
or nah?
