If you really think about it, things would be extremely annoying if anime became mainstream in America (I know it already is really popular, but what I mean is as known as things like game of thrones and whatnot.)
People would be saying "Kawaii" every ten seconds and only be talking about the longer ongoing anime like bleach, OnePiece, Fairy Tail, Naruto, Soul eater, etc. Also, when people actually talk about the super good anime that are short, we would be getting spoilers left and right without warning. It would ruin anime for us all and people would only pretend to like it because it is popular.
Only crappy anime that appeal to Americans would air on TV. The cheesy ass anime like Guilty Crown would become overrated.
Do you ever get annoyed how people think they know so much about pokemon but actually get a lot of things wrong?
"Hurr hurr there are no animals in the pokemon world"
Yes there freaking are. Common misconceptions like that, which nobody can actually look into themselves instead of blindly listening to youtubers doing nuzlockes annoy the crap out of me.
Well, it would be the same for all anime. People who couldn't follow what was going on I CLANNAD would begin this stupid popular "ashs coma" style belief that Tomoya never really went to that limbo world or even died or some stupid thing like that.
There would be common misconceptions about all the good anime that would make you want to pull your hair out.
I'm glad that not many people consider themselves "otakus". It's a thing most anime watchers take for granted. If everyone's friends watched anime, it wouldn't really be such a good thing.
carlos11 (2014-08-05 00:53:32)Anime is already mainstream.

carlos11 (2014-08-05 06:17:34)I guarantee you there is a group of kids in every Highschool in our nation that obsesses over anime and Japanese/Korean crap.

There is. It isn't that popular though. Sure, just about everyone knows that anime exists, but they don't really know much about it and watch it at all. Only about 1/10 people I ask say that they watch anime.
(Not that it's the first thing I ask whenever I meet someone.)
carlos11 (2014-08-05 21:20:38)Everyone knows about it. Unless you live in some weird, crappy, small town, that is.

carlos11 (2014-08-06 08:44:40)Oh, sure.
Hell, I watched Pokemon, and Naruto, and that Ouran Club, and that bloody peach girl too.
