BlueBlur (2014-07-19 17:41:35)People are confusing true love with "I really like you a lot."
"There was a time above. A time before. There were perfect things. Diamond absolutes."
carlos11 (2014-07-19 18:56:30)It appears you've mistaken correlation for causation.
Marriages don't fail in a stagnating amount because "45% of all marriages end in a divorce".
As for the actual reason behind all the divorces in the past decade, I can't say for sure.
I do have an idea, though. "Times change." Yes, I say that for everything, but only because it's true. Before, you could not get a divorce. You were pretty much stuck with whoever you chose, bound by marriage, and tied down with children. Now, it's socially acceptable to get divorced. So, in layman's terms, people do it because they can.
Marriages nowadays are definitely no less successful than they were, say, 30 years ago. A relationship doesn't just work if you stay together no matter what. Getting married "too young" is not a valid reason either. That's ironic.

Allow me to clarify: by people who get married too early, I didn't mean age wise. I meant too early in the relationship. If you propose after only been dating someone for six months, do you really think the relationship is going to work out? Of course not.
carlos11 (2014-07-19 21:04:21)If it doesn't work out, it wouldn't matter how long the person had waited, it just wouldn't work.
If it's going to work, it's going to work. Know what I'm saying, nigga?
See, if I sorta kinda like you, and we get married right away, after I get to know you for realsies, I'd either love you, or I wouldn't love you. It either works, or it doesn't.
If we wait to get married, the same thing happens, except I dump you before I ever even think of proposing.
Getting married too early in a relationship is bad because you're not waiting to find out just how compatible you are with your partner.

There would be more break ups than divorces if they waited it out. Since a lot of people usually don't wait to get married, that's why there's so many divorces. Now that I think about it though, I could be wrong since people would obviously learn more about each other especially faster if they were living together. If that's the case then the real problem could be lack of willpower to resolve the issues people have with their significant other, compared to people in the past. I've never really lived in ye olden days so I can't say that for sure though, but based on what a lot of people have told me, it seems that way. Also, I think this answer would make a lot of sense since people generally seem to care less and less about others as new generations come and go.
carlos11 (2014-07-21 18:31:02)CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
Btw, the alternative you mentioned is the surefire way to be friendzoned, jussayin.
