Not all Southerners are bad. Some are really rude, but my dad has a friend there that always buys us food. .u. He's super nice, too. It's not where they came from, it's how they were raised.

While I do agree some way-down-southerners can be homophobes, and racist, and are Republican, I assure you not all conservitave-republicans aren't like that. Only most southern ones are. I live northeast, and all the republicans HERE are totally cool with g@y people and aren't racist.
