No, the government is not as greedy and power hungry as it sounds, they've just dug themselves into a hole and can't really get out. At least we're not in a country where judges can be bribed with twenty bucks to swerve a case and people die in hit-and-runs without any legal intervention.
No, the troops aren't ineffective. War takes a long time. It's hard to settle.

Most of the wars we have fought in is to help preserve the freedom of other coutries because they were communist and the living there was unjust, like in Vietnam.

And above all, soldiers follow orders from the government. So hate on the politicians. Thanks to our troops, you aren't being controlled and you have freedom.
