Cancer as a whole isn't a disease but it causes diseases.

I'm pretty sure the aliens were killed by viruses caused by microorganisms in The War of The Worlds.

Plus we can use diseases and viruses for biological warfare. Harmful pathogens can do just as much to people as a bomb can.
