Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, as they say.....wait...right?

Anyway, this discussion started to surface in the Failed Photoshop Pictures thread, so I thought I'd make a separate thread to discuss it further...

Why do you think girls (and sometimes guys) feel the need to fake their beauty? Whether it's photoshop, make-up, or even cosmetic surgery, is it a waste of time?

There are people always trying to ban barbies or super-models because it's giving people a "false impression" of beauty and lowers girl's self esteem...do you agree? What's beauty in your eyes?

Discuss.

In my opinion as far as looks go, as long as someone puts a good effort into their appearance (such as dressing with respect and bathing regularly...and being healthy) they're going to be visually/physically attractive. For girls, make-up can play a part in putting effort into how you look, so I don't have anything against it...though it's certainly not required.

I pretty much agree with you.

I think they fake their beauty because of society's beauty standards. They'd get bullied a lot for how they look.

I find it a waste of time. Why bother? Some guys (strangely) likes ugly women. (No offense) and vice versa.

That reminds me of this story I've heard, a guy sued his ex-wife because they had an ugly baby. Turns out that the wife had a cosmetic surgery to make her look beautiful.

I don't know why people hate supermodels. They get paid for being gorgeous, and I think that's badass. But it's not as simple as being born that way. It takes a very strict regimen of diet and exercise to look the way supermodels do, not just plastic surgery and regurgitating at will.

You already know when girls be puttin' on too much makeup, making them look fake. When girls be doing that, they just trying to hide their ugly ass.
