In most games, you will be able to unlock some sort of sniper. I'll give you a few general tips.
1. Aim for the chest. In many games, like BF or COD, you must hit chest up with your sniper.
2.Pick a sniper that works for you. Screw people who say you are a fag for spraying bullets with your semi auto. (But kill them lots of times, because fag is an offensive term that they shouldn't use.)
3.Always keep moving. As a general rule, if you get 3-5 kills in one spot, that is enough. People now know your lcation and will call in airstrikes, toss c4, etc. into your hiding spot.
4.Be quick about it. You can't hardscope them as they run across the map. Try scoping in front of them and waiting for them to sprint into your crosshairs.
5. Many times, a sprinting person will run faster than your crosshairs move while aiming down sights. SCOPE OUT, THEN RE-AIM.
6.Try to quickscope at close range, and then hardscope at long range. At extremely long range, go for a headshot.
7. If you know you won't hit the shot, don't shoot. You'll give away your position.

Tips on QS
1. Move your hip fire crosshairs over them before you scope. This puts your shot on target.
2.Move slowly around corners.
3.Be wary of insults. While qs'ing may win you games, you might get insulted.

HS Tips
Hardscoping is the oppsite of quickscoping. Instead of aiming and shooting quickly, you take your time and perfect the shot.
1.Take your time.
2.Make small adjustments, if needed. Go for a headshot. You are putting tons of work into this shot already, make it a guarenteed kill.
3.Pick an accurate gun. Pick the most accurate gun, THAT YOU LIKE TO USE! If you don't like your gun, you won't do good with it.
4.Be well hidden. Don't hardscope from out of the open.

Actually, I do have some NS tips. I've NS'd in COD, Halo, and Sniper Warrior 2 before.
NS Tips
1.Figure out where your gun is firing. Try aiming at a specific point on a wall, or maybe a small, destructible object. Ex. A small glass bottle, oil can, car headlight.
2.Take some longer range shots at your "target" (whatever you used to find your shot)
3.No scoping is a sometimes a sniper's cqc last resort. Try it before switching to a sidearm.
4.Turn towards desired target. Try to aim for the largest area of the body. In most games, this is the chest/waist.
5.In COD, don't bother NS'ing. Read Fluxer's post for more info. (THANKS CARTER!)
6.Chances are, you probably won't hit a fast-moving target. Try to find a prone, crouching, or otherwise slowed/stopped target.
7.In games where NS'ing is not really possible, pick a semi-auto sniper and spray like Febreeze!

CHEAP MOVE: BLUE TAPE TRICK
If you do this, after winning the game, please commit suicide.
1.Find where your gun is firing.
2.Put a piece of blue (or any visible color) tape right there.
3.Run around the map. When someone runs into where the blue tape is on your screen, fire.
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN: Enemy runs over where your tape is, and the tape acts as a sight of sorts. You should always hit them, as this is where the gun fires while NS'ing. You can do this in almost any game.

@fluxer @games Actually, I would reccomend the XPR and Ballista for QS'ing. The XPR is a semi-auto, one hit kill from the chest up. A good mix of all the snipers. However, it reloads very slowly. I think the Ballista has excellent spped and power. Hands down best QS'ing sniper. Here's my list, from best to worst.
1.Ballista
2.DSR (This is my best sniper. By far. I can go 25 and 5 with this gun.)
3.XPR
4.SVU-AS
