So, who saw the remake of Godzilla yesterday/today? I was planning on going to Magic Johnson's to watch it until I later found out how busy I got. This is what happens when you plan something not knowing an obstacle is heading your way.

To be fair Robbie, even the original Godzilla movies made my Toho(Sp?) fell under that same flaw. We literally did not care for the humans, but ultimately, they're the ones that set-up the Giant Monster fights one way or another. Since there's no indication that another classic Kaiju would appear, you'll see less action.

Go look up "Just Here for Godzilla". Just don't get lost on TVTropes.

Godzilla was made by Japanese people, and it's crazy how popular it got in the 80s.

So many movies! Sequels, spin-offs, sequel to spin-offs, prequel to a sequel of a spin- off, etc.

But when the movie made into the US... Hollywood ruined it. It had 2 remakes, one on the mid-90s, and the one right now.

Actually, there weren't many spin-offs to Godzilla, at least not many created by Toho. Their movies were rather linear in storyline order, and got separated into "Eras" based on the incarnation of Godzilla at the time.

The last one ever made was ultimately a throwback to all prior Godzilla movies, "Godzilla: Final Wars"

In addition, I believe Gamera was given their own series prior to appearing in a Godzilla movie as He was incredibly detached from Godzilla's own continuity, and did so only because it would solve the age-old question of who would beat whom in a fight. The only real spin-off movie series from Godzilla was Mothra's own movies, as she was originally a Godzilla character who got so incredibly popular they gave her a turn in the spotlight.

Any other spin-offs not made directly by Toho are considered outside of the Canon sequence.

So in short, they had 2 main series. Gamera and Godzilla. Godzilla and Gamera eventually came across each other. Rodan was given a series, but I have to check whether he was stand-alone, or branched from Godzilla or Gamera. Mothra branched off from Godzilla, thus the only real Spin-off I can confirm.

Other than that, It's purely linear.
