Shinestar isn't completely inactive. I've seen him comment in miscellaneous a few times without specifically looking for signs of his existence.
Another thing I should add, just because it's less common to see a thread closed by a certain moderator, doesn't mean they wouldn't of closed it if they got to it first.
carlos11 (2014-05-11 18:17:06)When did we shift from bureaucracy to democracy?
Though they should have some influence, regular users shouldn't have the power to make these decisions.

Mephistopheles (2014-05-11 18:47:36)A lot of people just don't assume inactivity. I know I check when they were last on before going to call someone inactive.
Even just checking on the profiles can be flawed though, some people only come on to check PMs.

Komeradekishy, you are wrong. A lot of users do in fact assume certain mods are inactive. It seems to me like you're trying to sound like you know what you're talking about, but based on how in specific you are being, you lie. You say you know which mods are inactive because you check all the forums, but that's clearly not true.
Not trying to put you down or anything, but please don't try to got good mods demoted just based only on what you hear from other people. That's like voting for this guy as president instead of that guy just because all your friends like him, even though you didn't look into it yourself.
Maybe it is true that other most get to most of the threads first because the inactive ones interact less with the community, but that doesn't mean they never do their job. I think what matters overal is how well they do their job. Not how often we see them do it.
ConnorRonnoc (2014-05-11 21:23:01)To be fair though, the Forum Mods are well more welcoming to new users, and much kinder.

Is it really a bad thing if a few mods close or move more threads than a couple others? It's not like the number of mods we CAN have is limited. I know it sounds like I'm pulling all kinds of new reasons to back up my point out of my ass here, but it isn't necessary to demote as many mods as we possibly can. It's not like there's a demotion quota or anything.
ED (2014-05-11 21:52:10)Why people think that some mods are inactive (My theory):
There are too many mods, so whenever an inappropriate thread occurs (which is quite rare now), it gets closed/moved/etc. by a mod before the other mod can do it. That is very unfortunate for Tetris (or anyone else), since he is online at the same time as some other mods, giving him no chance to take action. It's like hiring 7 painters for one house while 2 are enough.
Also, about the posting: Tetris, as an example, doesn't post much because there aren't interesting threads/discussions he'd like to comment in. So, he should just post things like "Hi just posting to let you know I'm active kthxbye"? That's useless. We don't need that.
Jason2k14 (2014-05-11 23:24:35)You probably didn't roam around the other forums because there's threads that have been locked the past week by other forum moderators. This time 'round, Misc threads don't get closed anymore unless it's some stupid thread that deserves the image that is on my sig.

Nin10dude789 (2014-05-11 23:35:39)I just saw a useless thread at the Wii U forums, no mods gave a crap.

SackThing101 (2014-05-12 00:34:05)The votes are nothing. They're the community's opinion. Though it does increase their chances by roughly 5%-25%, I make the final decision. Why do I say this? Lets say mega was the good mod and DrakeJericho is the bad mod (this is just an example. Drake is a good mod IMO). If people were to team up to get mega demoted, then that wouldn't make any logical sense because I "stalk" them on how they moderate, meaning I see him active. Same with DrakeJericho. They would team up and get DrakeJericho modded still, even though he was the worse mod in existence. This is why Shinestar and TetrisDude335 are still mods.
And also, mods don't look at the title and say "meh" and not click on it. The mods would click on the topic just in case there's bad stuff in them so he/she/it can moderate them. While at it, they could at least reply or reply to the comments, even if you don't feel like it.
I'm not saying you HAVE to do this, but it's recommended so we know your existence. This is the same reason why a certain someone (not saying name) was about to be demoted. No one had evidence that he/she/it was active, so we can assume he/she/it was not.
Too Long; Did not Read! Your best chance of not getting demoted is by posting in topics, so you have evidence you were there.
Another side note, I'm not forcing people to post in topics they don't like. I do most of the things on here.

carlos11 (2014-05-12 01:45:27)Now we can rest assured our votes mean nothing.

This is about the vote for which moderators in the forums should be demoted. First of all, I'm seeing people just say the name of a mod they are voting to be demoted, but not even giving a reason. Apparently their vote counts even though they were too lazy to even give a reason. There needs to be a rule about this sort of thing. A vote should not count as valid unless the one voting also states their reason.
Now I let me tell you something about the votes that ARE counted as valid. This happens in both the votes for which mod to be demoted and the ones for which to be given the job in the first place. Certain votes are not even counted. I've looked through the threads. The numbers don't add up.
Get this, in the current thread about forum mod demotion, there are less votes to keep TetrisDude and shinestar as forum mods shown on the list with their name, the yes/no option, than there are being said. I saw it stay this way even after the thread was updated. Do you know what that is called? Corrupt.
There's one more thing I have a problem with. A huge problem. Votes for mods to be demoted, with the reason being them being inactive. Basically people are saying this;
"I don't see this person in the forums that much. That's why I think he/she should be demoted."
First let me explain to you that I understand this mentality completely. If they aren't here to do their "job", why let them have that job in the first place? However, there's a reason that argument is flawed. First of all, just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they aren't always here doing their job. If you don't see then commenting in a lot of threads, you assume they are inactive. You assume they don't do their job.
One example of this rediculaus assumption is people assuming TetrisDude335 and shinestar are not here and as a result, so many people are voting for them to be demoted. Just because you don't see all their comments in the forums, doesn't mean that they don't close and delete any threads. Also, they actually are commenting on plenty of threads. Let me ask you all one question, how many different forums do you go in? Are you only active in miscellaneous? Don't act like you go in every single forum and know for a fact that teu aren't active.
Go seek out their comments before claiming you know for a fact that they are inactive.
Here is what needs to be done. Obviously I have no authority over anyone here, but if you want this system to be fair, an always have, don't be a hypocrite. Make these few changes.
1. Delete/close the current thread for demotion we have, and start a new one, having everyone know the information above in this thread I am posting. This is important to ensure that this is fair.
2. Make sure a rule is made to make sure people give a clear, legitimate reason in order for their vote to count. This way, people won't just think they can knock them out of the way so they can have a potential chance to take their place.
3. Count all legitimate votes. Don't leave a person behind. Above I stated how corrupt it was that some votes are not being counted. This WILL change. It is absolutely intolerable for something as stupid and unfair as this to keep happening. It doesn't matter if you think "oh this user is very new. He doesn't know anything. I won't count his answer." Or "I don't agree with this guy, but people think he's a "noob" so if I don't count his vote, I'm pretty sure nobody would notice.
4. It should not be allowed to have "this mod is inactive" as a legitimate reason for them to be demoted.
