Your future house

What will your future house be like?

I definately won't go for looks. It might be nice to have a house that looks nice, but that will just add to the cost of what I want in a house.

I want a house with three floors-- One above ground, two underground.

The bottommost floor would have two rooms, one with dirt from the ceiling up, and the other with access the the B1 floor. The bottommost floor would have a few of those things that protect against floods, it would have two electrical outlets near the top of the rooms, and it would have these little undescribable things that would protect against rubble if the house managed to collapse and I couldn't get out in time.

The B1 floor would have only one room, mainly for food/water storage, in case of emergency.

The top floor would identical to an actual house, except it would be sturdy as hell. I'd want outer walls that would withstand tornado-force winds or an earthquake, and a roof that would be as sturdy as possible in terms of caving in. Watertight and waterproof doors and windows, if we/I get trapped in a flood.

It would basically be the ultimate anti-natural disaster house, as that scared the living crap out of me.

Or I could just move to Montreal.

My main fear is tornadoes, and they have a freaking underground city.

What could be more desirable?

Let's see, which state has the most tornadoes..?

I know, I know. College/high school math/algebra/triginometry/whatever teaches that the size of things will have an effect on totals (i.e. Texas will have the most tornadoes because it's the second biggest state), but that still scared the crap out of me.

Also, speaking of size of states and tornado chances, Alaska has one of the lowest tornado counts, even though it's the biggest state.

EDIT: that image is much smaller on pcs with simg, don't complain

I live in Alaska- We get at least fourteen small earthquakes every two months. Occasionally a large one. If you're afraid of earthquakes, don't live in AK.

My dream house? Small cabin on a mountain in the woods. Direct access to skiing.

@TreeHugger101

Then, all of a sudden, a mudslide wides your house away...
Sorry, I can't keep myself from thinking about weather ;v;

Hawaii suffers earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Good thing New Mexico doesn't suffer any natural disasters.

The '64 earthquake was the worst.
Pretty much the entirety of Anchorage was just rubble.

Alaska is 401,470 square miles larger than Texas. Or 2.5 times as large.

Fun fact: Over 80 percent of Alaska still remains untouched by society. Just wilderness.

Ben- But that cali life, though.

As for the house, I'll let the wife handle that.
