It'd be really nice if everyone could just read this, its actually very interesting, and won't take you more than five minutes. Or at least skim thorugh it, read a couple words a paragraph to get the gist.

For the record, a population of two isn't enough to support genetic diversity. You'll actually need around 60-80 different individuals, a majority of which female, to have a sustainable diversity, otherwise it's doomed to inbreeding and eventually dying out.

This is, of course, assuming a single species is involved. Cross-breeding different types of snakes have led to some......interesting results, as the state of Florida can testify when two invasive species of snakes were shown to cross-breed on occasion. The end result was that the snakes were now A) Breeding more often and Occasionally more difficult to capture/kill because of traits they may have inhereted from the other parent.

I can't speak on mutations however, because I'm not a biologist of any sort.
