Anime related rant: Misa from Death Note
Before I copy and pasted this from my notepad the paragraphs were spaced out a lot better. Sorry if this is slightly difficult to read

Seriously though, it must suck being ugly.

Today I'm going to rant about a certain anime character that is extremely overrated. It is "Misa" from the anime called Death Note. The reason I hate her so much ( with a passion) is not only because of the awful things she did, the the GOD AWFUL things that cause them all to be ignored.ÂÂ
Most people say that her personality is awesome. Most also like her because she is cute. The first thing is about 50% false. Here is what I mean by that:
Her personality is extremely immature, and also a person who will kill innocent people ( or contribute to doing so ) for her own gain. The only reason people find this acceptable is because of what she looks like.
Imagine a really ugly girl that is convinced that there will be a slight chance of her being able to date the man of her dreams if she willingly kills your entire family ( and maybe anyone else you care about dearly ).
She does it, fails to get what she wants, but continues to do awful things to people just because she is gullible enough to believe that maybe one day she will get what she wants.
Doesn't sound very great huh? Well guess what? If Misa was extremely ugly or at least not even remotely cute, she would be thought of as the same way. Let me give you an example of how even intelligent people don't understand that she isn't the type of character people should be thinking of as a "good person"
This is from a yahoo answers thing called "does L think of Yagami light as a friend?"
"This is what troubles me. Maybe it started as a plan, to gain Light's trust, but in reality, did L fall into his own trap? For the first time in his life, L lost because he considered Light as his only friend? The author said that L didn't have friends but still, L could think of Light as a friend even though it wasn't a mutual friendship.
I think deep down they both saw each other as friends but in reality they were opposing each other. However, L won in the end in the form of his successors. Near had less emotion and never got close to Light so he was more focused, leading him to win with assistance from Mello and Matt. L and Light could've just been lying and had no emotional caring for each other though, the only people who really know are Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ohba.Giddy N Hormones (talk) 03:48, January 6, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, you are right. But, in the end, it is very confusing. Because, when Light lost his memories, I was like... is this the same guy? He would be or better to say, he was like that before the cursed Death Note. The person who cared about his family, friends and other people's feelings. So, at that time he definitely could see L as a friend. And after he gained his memories, then L was the one who, maybe, started to think of Light as a friend and that was the day when he fell. He even asked Light, did he ever tell the truth in his life. I think that L really wanted to have a real friend and was desperate to know, does Light really think of him as a friend. They both were messed up in their own web of lies.
I think Light is evil, he has no real feelings for anyone and he always, always lies. It annoys me, and I'm sure many others, because he and L could of worked together so well if he would of just not got his memories back. If this had happened the Kira story would fade and turn to nothing and the world would return out of the dark, and above everything, a great team would have been made.
But, of course, that didn't happen, as Tsugumi Ohba just likes to kill all the characters that he/she can. Seriously. Matt, Watari, L, Mello, Light, Takada, Mikami, Soichiro, Demigawa, several SPK members, Ukita, seriously, I'm surprised the story didn't end with "And then everybody died, the end!"
At least my favourite character, Near, survived, if he hadn't I would of hated Death Note to be honest, if everyone would of died there would of been no point to the story at all. In the end, L won, through near and Mello, and Light lost and died. However, overall, Near was the winner just for surviving. As was Matsuda, Ide, Aizawa, Rester, Givanni and Lidner. To Giddy,
Isn't it a little silly to call some person evil? Light is a bad person but L is no better than him. The only difference is that both are serving justice in their own way. Hm... I even think that L wasn't so much into justice, he was much more into challenge and... he found that challenge in Kira. The proof? L, himself said that he is doing only cases which are challenging and interesting to him. So, if you want to catch criminals, why don't you consider all cases, not only the ones you are interested in? It is selfish, very selfish of L. In the end, Light and L fit together pretty well. L is also a monster in his own way. My favourite character is definitely Misa
Now, although there are many things I agree with AND disagree with in those paragraphs, the thing about Misa stuck out the most.
Basically, it is clear to see that the person writing that was oblivious to how much she contributed to doing the wrong thing and being extremely selfish even though, for merely sing cute, she already had the best in life HADED to her on a silver platter, and the reason he couldn't see that was because he was too focused on how cute she looked/ acted.
As I said before, an ugly person with an immature personality wouldn't make being immature look all cute like Misa could even of Misa acted the same way, simply because she wasn't cute like Misa.
Misa could even be a sadist/rapist and make it seem all cute to some people. So it's not really the personality people like about her, it's merely how it looks when she does it.
Honestly, I was pretty happy when ( SPOILER ALERT ) she jumped off that building and killed herself after going thorough the worst despair she ever felt. She deserved it.
( there will be spoilers in this paragraph ) Just around the time when L died she actually considered that what she was doing might be wrong. Of course, she just decides to go along with Lights scheme anyway and do the wrong thing.
Yes, light did have a sense of justice, but still he has a lot of innocent people he killed in the process. Here is a list:
The American detectives summoned by L. ( I believe there were 16 of them )
The detective that Light tricked into writing the American detectives name down in the death note pages, then killed afterwards.
His fiancéÂÂ
L/Ryuzaki
Rem
Lights girlfriend from college that he used for yet another tool for his plans by toying with her emotions
( indirectly ) his own father.
And more.
He also attempted to kill Near,Matsuda, CONSIDERED killing his sister and others.
Why an I mentioning this? Because of the things light did, people considered him a complete ass. I've seen for myself that most people who hate him still love Misa anyway. But why? She was involved with most of the killings from almost the beginning to the wry end.ÂÂ
She even said rude things to lights old girlfriend and didn't care when she got killed, simply because she saw her as competition, but still, people like her character. Why?
It's because people ignore, or most likely forget all the things she does, simply because she is adorable. A complete airhead who can't just accept that light is a bad person.
She even said once that even though she supported Kira, she would kill him if it pleased light. Basically, she would kill someone who she thought was justice, even if she was wrong.
If you had the power to kill a very good person who had changed the world for the better without harming ANYBODY, would you do it?
Of course not.
Now imagine that you could, and of you did there would be a one out of one hundred chance that your crush would love you forever if you did.ÂÂ
Would you do it? Only an idiot would.
I bet when I mentioned that an idiot would, you imagined some stupid looking person deciding todo just that didn't you? Here's a cool thing to do :
How about you imagine an extremely ugly person STOPPING a very beautiful person from doing so. It's not hard if you try. Well guess what? That kind of thing can actually happen.
In this society today, beautiful people are treated nicer than ugly ones. You know for a fact that if you were ugly, it'd be hard to get people to even take you seriously.
I hope that this thread opened your mind up a little bit and allowed you to view things differently.ÂÂ
That is all.
