I never liked the portable games fun. I didn't mind the turn-based battle system too much, but I found myself walking into a random battle every 2-3 steps. I couldn't explore the gameworld like that, and the constant stream of battles made me hate the system altogether. I tried playing a few other games since then, but it was more of the same, with a new coat of graphics. Haven't liked Poke'mon in years, so on top of that, I haven't been interested in checking out X/Y.
I did, however, enjoy Poke'mon Snap and Stadium on the 64, and believe a sequel to Snap on the 3DS is long overdue. :l

I never owned Red or Blue

I got Yellow from a cousin because he'd had it under his bed for years.

I never owned Gold, Silver or Crystal

Ruby and Sapphire were pretty cool, and introduce cool Pokemon.

FireRed and LeafGreen were pretty awesome as they let you travel the Sevvi (Spelling?) islands.

Emerald was by far, my favourite game ever.

Diamond and Pearl was boring, as was Platinum.

HeartGold and SoulSilver were good, but there were no places to train.

I actually liked the pokemon designs from Black and White.

Black and White 2 was pointless, but better than the originals.

X & Y is probably second best, because you have to wait to transfer Pokemon, and Mega Evolutions meant that Mawile and Absol would never get a proper evolution.
