My side of the "Strike-Story"

I made this article to clear up some things that have been going on recently in the chatrooms of 3DSPlaza. There has been a lot of tension and stress for me, so hopefully readers can understand what I actually did and what my purpose was for my actions.

Last week I striked a member for using an abbreviation which ended up being another strike and banning the user. I have been getting a lot of complaints and criticism for my actions and resulted in me trying and accomplishing to unban the user.

I was having discussions after the user got his first strike and after he got his second strike, got banned and then unbanned. The arguing discussion was about whether my actions were valid or invalid. You may have read this thread http://pc.3dsplaza.com/forums/topic.php?topic=50245 If not, please read it before you continue on reading this thread.

So I have gotten a lot of critic on my actions and reading back the article above me, I admit that some of the things I have said and done are indeed unsuited to the behavior of a moderator, but my intention was/is to keep the site safe, I striked someone twice for using an what I thought to be an inappropriate abbreviation ( An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or phrase exm: lol, lmao, brb ). Apparently the use of the abbreviation is so frequent, that the use of striking someone for it has become obsolete, to my amazement.

I still feel like I was/had trying/tried the right thing. After I got the user unbanned, I got accused for being an "8-year old immature moderator who needs to do his job right." He also claimed that "only little kids feel offended by the word."
At which I responded that this site is filled with those sort of members. And even if most of them don't feel offended, I feel like I did something wrong with the right intention.

I never banned the user directly, it happened because I striked him twice for inappropriateness
which resulted into a ban. Due the complaints of other users, I had the user unbanned at the end of the day. After that, I still got arguments at the moment I am writing this thread.

I also got accused that I made up a cyberstory and cybered a user on this site. To the user who believed this is true, I can assure that this is just another rumor spread on this site. Although this is not where this thread is meant for, I just wanted to clear that out. Thank you.

Long story short; I striked a member for what I thought was inappropriate, got into an argument, which ended up giving him another strike that got him banned, then after complaints from various users, I got him unbanned the same day, then the user and surrounding members got into a discussion, which are still being made from the day on.

I want to have closure with anyone who think I am the immature moderator who is too uptight with the rules, because I'm not. I'm already a moderator who has looked away countless times for some actions that would get you banned on another site. When I did take some action, it ended up with an uproar.

So here is my side of the story, in which I wanted to take some of your time to explain my intentions and actions, I hope you understood my deeds and purposes, and that I won't get yelled at every time I enter a chatroom.

Thank you.

-Barry

"Tension and stress?" Sounds like the chats got pretty riled up.

I would've done the same thing Barry did. "gt*o", "wt*", etc. Those count as *-bombs. And if they don't, they should. Imagine how many kids google those abbreviations to figure out what they are. Imagine how many kids you are badly influencing.
It's time for review, kiddo!

You guys are like, I swear, never pay attention to the Feature Suggestions forums. The Feature Suggestions Forums has some pretty sweet ideas but now the forums "Misc" and some of "This Plaza" is being taken over by noobs and now 80% of Plaza forgets that we even HAD A FEATURE SUGGESTIONS FORUM! -_-

^So? There's no point in a "Feature Suggestions" forum if Rob and SL are working on Splashiverse.

So many people just dont understand that it's the moderator's job to clean this site. It irritates me that some and/or many people dont understand this.
... and no, I'm not hunting your head.
