espace39 (2013-06-14 20:36:03)It seems that it's only good purposes are for nostalgia, amish gamers, and people who want to sell there gen one consoles for more room. And plus, its primary features rely on discontinued products, so as awesome as it is, I doubt that people are going to be wetting themselves like an excited dog over it. Unless it has 3rd party support (which it probably doe's, seeing as its a 3rd party device), built in game's, or modern reproductions of cartridges, it's not going to be an easy sell. I would buy one, that is, if I can find a seller with a sufficient stock of early games or an adaptor for PS1 games, but sadly, neither of those are a "just round the corner" sort of deal.

Finally, at E3 2013, they showed the RetroN 5. It has a final planned month for release: Late July or Early August. It is confirmed that it will be under $100. They showed the two colors (and probably the only) that they've showed off on the images: Blue, black, and white and plain black. The console looks very impressive and shiny. It appeared to have the USB on the side instead of the front, and had an SD Card slot that wasn't mentioned at Midwest Gaming Classic, showing that they wanted to open source the console or let you save states onto the SD.
It was also found that their UI uses Android.

Day 2 Updates
At E3 2013 Day 2, Operation Rainfall got more info on the RetroN 5.

Richard Ross was given the opportunity to play Mario Kart: Super Circuit for the GBA on the RetroN 5. Quote:
"Without all the filters on, the graphics look jagged and noticeably old. With the filters applied the game looked incredible and had no noticeable lag. For those who need that nostalgic feel to their games they even included a filter to add scan lines!"
Even Wired got a see of the RetroN 5. (It's in their gallery)
The reviews so far make it seem that this thing has priorities over the next generation consoles!
