Hey, AntiChrist here. First of all, to avoid arguments, this is very opinion based. Which means, don't freak out if you hear something on this thread you disagree with.
Today I'll be reviewing SOA ( Sword art online ) , one of the most known anime among many anime fans.
SOA is about a kid named "Kirito", (well atleast that's his current name at the beginning) who lives in somewhere around 2020 where complete virtual realities can be played without it affecting the human body.
The game is payed by wearing a head gear that send electrical signals to the brain which completely takes consciousness away from reality and into the game. You can't move your body in real life while playing the game. In the game is where you feel everything until you decide to push a log out button that brings your consciousness back to reality.
Seems pretty realistic for a show about a virtual reality game.
SOA is the name of the game and it's an RPG with no magic, but various swords and armor. There are also stats and different places.
Kirito is one of the 10,000 beta testers for the game and is given a pretty good head start. He becomes pretty good at the game and at one point, meets a friend who is a beginner. The beginner asks him for help and at the end of the day, the beginner tries to log out.
Then, as Kirito walks away, the beginner makes a somewhat confusing remark.
"There's no logout button..."
Kirito insists that there is one but he isn't looking hard enough and tells him where it is. When the beginner starts to panic because he can't find one, Kirito decides to point it out to him, however, he sees that the beginner has no logout button.
Kirito checks his menu and sees that he doesn't have a logout button either. He looks around and notices multiple players panicking and making a fuss out of not being able to find the logout button.
The beginner makes an attempt to remove the nerve gear which connects his consciousness to the game but it's no use. Kirito stays calm and waits for an announcement to be made by the admineral.
Just as Kirito predicted, all 10,000 players are warped to one place as the admin comes in the form of a player to announce to them that he has trapped everyone in-game, they can not leave the game any other way then beating it, and that they will die in real life by having their brains fried if they die in the game. They are Also told and shown about all the brains that were destroyed by family members who have tried to remove the nerve gear. Almost everyone immediately panics and loses their minds. Suddenly, everyone loses the ability to edit their avatar and is stuck looking the way they do in real life.
Two months pass of being stuck in the game and now, Kirito is part of the leading guild of SOA and is trying very hard to beat the game so he doesn't die.
There are many characters and each one of them have plenty of personal development.
There are 25 episodes and two seasons.
The climax of the first season wasn't the best I've seen but the rest of the storyline is brilliant and very amusing. The soundtrack isn't very bad either. There are a lot of plot twists and sad deaths, as well as funny moments.
This show is one of my personal favorites for a lot of reasons. Much more than I've already shared with you. I'd recommend it. It can be watched for free on the crunchyroll app (which can be downloaded for free) and MAYBE Netflix.
Tl Dr; this anime is good because of logical reasons stated above which obviously makes sense since you were too overwhelmed by the large number of words to actually read it. So, go watch it.
