*This is a review of the Xbox360 version
Another entry has come into the multimillion annual FPS franchise. In many ways it uses a lot from its predecessors, but it brings a new fresh page for the series and sets high marks for future releases.

Story
This is my first Call of Duty game that I actually own, but I have a pretty good idea what it is about. This game is a sequel from 2010's Call of Duty Black Ops. It follows the adventure of David Mason (Alex Mason's son) in the year 2025, and the Cold War between China for rare minerals and against terrorist group "Cordis Die". with this game taking place in the future, there are many new things like automated robots, upgraded weapons, xray vision, invisibility, and much more. The campaign switches between the adventures of Alex Mason in the past and David Mason in the future. This layout really makes you understand the effects of the things that happened in the past. This is also the first Call of Duty game to have alternate endings and permanent choices. It keeps you playing the campaign for a different ending even when it is over. Like most Call of Duty gams, they have beautiful voice acting for every single character.

Controls
I might as well give Treyarch a golden medal for these easy controls. I won't explain them all, but you move with the LS, change direction with the RS, and use the RT for shooting. There are never moments when the controls get confusing. You can play the entire campaign without looking at your remote for the controls, it's that easy. Along the road, there are different button combinations you use to do some cool techniques in combat, and they are easy to learn with these awesome controls.

Multiplayer
I know that there are many good multiplayer games, but Treyarch KNOWS how to make multiplayer. As always, there is local multiplayer with split screen and there is online multiplayer. Online multiplayer supports up to 18 people. Even with 18 people on a map, there are no hiccups at all. Treyarch has found a way to deliver smooth multiplayer no matter what your internet connection is like. Multiplayer barely glitches at all, even with intense gunfights. As always, you can chat with people while playing, and mute people. But Treyarch has added something new to multiplayer, the 'Create a Class' system. This lets you choose your weapons, killstreaks, loadouts, and pretty much everything. It is very good for choosing your weapons fast. You may also change your class during a match, which also adds a bit of surprise to your opponents. There are a wide variety of game modes you can choose like Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, and so many more that I cannot list right now.

Zombies
Zombies is back, and better than ever! If you do not know what Zombies mode is, it is a mode where you are started with limited resources and must fight wave after wave of zombies. It was featured in Call of Duty Black Ops. Zombies can be played locally with four people, or online with four people. Zombies mode is a lot more fun with a Tranzit mode that lets you travel to different maps with a bus. Your bus may be overrun by zombies and zombies can chase you while in it. The bus stops at each map for a limited about of time and then goes to the next map. So if you miss your buss, you are looking for a long wait in the area you are in. But you can walk to your next destination if you are willing to take the risks. There are also parts in This mode that let you add items to your bus to make it work better against zombies. Even though Zombies mode can be played alone, it is much more better being played with friends because you have a lot much of a better chance of surviving. As you progress through this mode, waves get a lot longer and stronger. Zombies is very addicting and has you playing over and over again.

Graphics/Voice Acting
As always, Treyarch delivers their games in high quality. The game runs at a smooth 60 FPS and does not even slow down in Multiplayer. Treyarch delivers life-like graphics and has improved from the last game. I always feel like Activision has improved these graphics over the years. Like all Call of Duty games, this one has voice acting. Once again, the voice acting is well done and the previous characters sound old and aged just like they should be in this game.

Game Types
Along with the normal gunplay missions, there are new missions called strike force missions. It is mode you control an entire troop full of soldiers, drones and many more. You can direct where each untit attacks and your can take control of your units. Strike Force missions are pretty overwhelming and can be hard to take in at first, but with practice, it will become better. Strike force actually added tactical depth to this ga,e and I hope I see more of these mission types in the next game.

The Verdict
Activision and Treyarch has delivered a new Call of Duty adventure that tops the last. This game should be enjoyed by fans and non fans alike. This game is a game that will keep you playing until the next comes out. I really enjoyed this game from start to finish.

I happen to hate this franchise with a passion, but Like music, I'm not a fan of a game because it's part of a series. Each game is it's own case, and therefore must be treated as such.

As a whole, Call Of Duty is an overrated franchise that attempts no innovation between yearly releases and eventually subcumbs to Tryhards, N00bs, and Squeakers. Yet, there's a certain magic to Treyarch's installments that manage to keep my interest, something that Activision's "Modern Warfare" series failed to do for 3 installments.

This entry specifically is a gem among the franchise, due to the campaign improvements and the ability to progress through multiplayer by unlocking things at your own pace.

My main beef with the franchise is that, in order for a game to deserve it's high ratings, it must be playable without online capability. Up until Black Ops, and later Black Ops 2, no one really bought a Call of Duty game expecting to play offline due to the campaigns and Spec. Ops modes sucking arse.

My only real problem with this game is that I'm not playing it enough. Zombies is interesting, The campaign is well written and a worthwhile experience, and the new multiplayer system is not too complex and easy to use, but not so simple that it's boring.

In short, the series may be overrated, but this game actually deserves the positive reviews it's obtaining.
