This does cause some issues. Some that can cause problems in the database. My friends list was glitched simply because me first letter and the B in Beanish was capitalized.

This has been suggested many times before.
Changing your name would cause problems such as you losing your PMs and friends list.
Also, if a user breaks the rules and changes their name, it would be hard for a chat moderator to locate their original username.
