Well, it's just that they can be for "The style" these days. Mostly, thats what people use them for. Also, they help you hear sound if you plug them in or don't want somebody hearing you watching something.

Well, im gonna buy some today.
I want them for sound, mostly, but I also think the design is awsome. No way im buying Beats, because they cost too much. The ones I want fit my head perfectly, have good sound, and I think the design is pretty cool.

My headphones are crap, I think I'll stick with my headphones instead of ear buds though. -.- I'm glad I can spell with ought any grammar and my iPad corrects me.

My new headphones block out outside sound so well. and I can bass boost the music I listen to without the threat of trashing them.

But yes, when I used earbuds, they always broke, shorted out or something in a month or two. Just my luck. I'd rather have an expensive, bulky pair of headphones.

I myself like electro-house much more than dubstep. Still has a catchy, deep bass, but isn't the same repetitive bassline over and over again. Having a good pair of headphones makes that twice as entertaining.

Main reason I need good quality headphones is because I produce electronic music. I would like to get a pair of Sennheiser's but currently I have Sony headphones.
