Stripetail walked alone. His ribcage was clearly visible through his mangled pelt. He was a living skeleton, and with every step he took, he wondered to himself...do I die this time? No? This time? No?! When do I die, then, when?! and he stops.
His head is obscured by shadows, the moon looking upon him with shame. "Youv'e lost everything again..." it called to him.
"yes, I have... " he answered.
"Then why dont you return o Nightclan?"
A single, silver tear scraped across stripepelts face and landing on the cracked concrete with a small plop. He griitted his teeth.
"You know as well as I do why I cant go back..." Stripepelt said, to no one in particular.
"You know
"yes, back in NightClan, Windpaw, my daughter, awaits me..." Stripepelt said, now resting on an old, torn-up mattress.
"She was so strong...so much...like her mother..." another tear...hot and wet and silver, slipped from his amber eyes.
"I-I'll bet, that she's a warrior now...like her father...like her father, the fallen deputy...who ran away from it all because of an accident on the thunderpath..."
Stripepelt stopped grieving...he sensed something. A mouse? Rumaging through the garbage? *good luck,* stripepelt thought to himself. *I've tried that already...* but then, he got an idea. He would catch a mouse...and he wouldn't be so hungry, and he would be reminded of when Featherfoot was alive and sharing fresh kill with him and thier beautiful daughter windkit. Soon enough, she became windpaw, but just days later, Featherfoot had had an accident on the thunderpath...that would lead to grief, regret, and pain-more than once.
To be continued...
