Dominic had gotten up earlier than usual to help stock books at the library, and he decided to take the shortcut to there since it was early in the morning. He thought no one will be there.

Jessica was at the park near the library reading her book from there. She was for once interested in a book, it being different from many others.

Dominic sees Jessica and his heart raced furiously with anxiety. If he was seen most likely she'll try to talk to him, and if she does, he'll be a nervous wreck. He didn't want to make a fool out of himself in the first place.
