Ferdinand sat in his bedroom, on his bed, and lamented his lack of funds.
His SimVR had started glitching yesterday as he played Gunfire Haze, his gun had disappeared completely and the enemy players and NPCs had started turning into weird shapes and sizes.It crashed right after that, and the whole virtual reality machine had started buzzing and beeping until Ferdinand force shutdown the thing, (Stupid thing.) he thought.
The SimVR in question now sat on his dresser dejectedly, the reason for it's neglect of playing was because Ferdinand was afraid that it might not turn on. If it didn't, he was screwed, he would have to wait until he saved enough to buy a DeveloperKit, and his parents would be unbearable in the meantime. "You should have taken better care of that junk, even if it was." etc etc...

He finally steeled himself and pulled on the system, it powered on fine, and he could see the white on black SimVR symbol pop up before providing him with a menu, he selected Gunfire Haze, and prayed as the loading screen came to life.

Ferdinand was greeted by a system of complex menu options, allowing him to either join a multiplayer simulation or set up his own custom one.

Ferdinand moves the cursor over to the 'Join Multiplayer Simulation' option, and selects it.
The title screen disappears and is replaced with a writing proclaiming: 'Gunfire Haze' in silver, steampunk style.
At the top, a ticker says: 'Searching for public game...'
(Yes!) Ferdinand thinks, as the screen instead changes to a 'Finding Players...' wording.
"It's working!"
