Also, a brain stem is a little tiny thing supporting your brain, as all of the functions described are put into the center of the brain, just like a cells nucleus, most important stuff in most protected spot. the brain stem only handles communication between the body and the brain. If you really believe that, then your ignorance is high. btw you can only live for so long after being shot in the head, patch it up, you still die, it was a publicity scam, and they obviously need money, and photoshop is easy to learn

The brain stem allowed him to breathe, digest, etc. Just because you die instantly (sometimes) from a shot in the head, doesn't mean you can't survive without a brain. Some people die instantly from a shot in the torso or chest (without the bullet hitting the heart). There are plenty of people who've survived a bullet in the head, and of course you'll die after "so long". Death is inevitable.

Phineas Gage took an iron rod through the skull and took damage through a lot of his frontal brain lobes, effectively losing a large portion of his brain. He lived, but became mentally unstable as he went through various mood shifts and his personality reflected the damage by becoming more irate and violent.

As for the kid, I would've euthanized the poor thing. Those parents were actually torturing themselves fighting for a lost cause; They knew, at least internally, that the kid would've perished before he got to live a full life. They were stuck at stage 1 of Kübler-Ross, and now they have to go through the rest of the motions.

If the kid could at least reached his adult years, that would have shocked me at the most. They were obviously torturing themselves only because they loved the kid, and I think they knew that but never cared.

If you truly love something, You'd know when it's time to let it go. Forcing the kid on for 12 years is bad as is, and even if he did reach adulthood, he'd have no future.

There really was no purpose for keeping him alive that long, or any longer, if he's about as alive as a sack of potatoes.
